I've got a few files of an old TV show, and I can't watch them because they're in AVI format. I downloaded a file converter that worked once and then stopped. Re-installing it didn't help. Anyone got a site that has an file converter or an AVI player? Specifically, a free one? It doesn't have to be high zoot, just be able to convert and/or play the files. Thanks.

Do you have VLC media player? As far as I know, it will play anything.

Yeah, VLC. Media Player Classic is another good one, but you'll need the right codec. VLC has it all built in.

+1 on VLC, you never need another media player

Same thing with mplayer. I downloaded it 5 years ago, and have never updated anything, and it still plays anything I throw at it, even file types I've never heard of that my computer didn't even recognize as a video file.

+1 for VLC.

I use both VLC and MediaPlayerClassic.

VLC is more versatile, but MPC has a nice frame-by-frame feature that I've haven't found on other players.

I had a couple of people recommend it. Thanks.
