i remember a song which may have been called "Hey Cecilia", somewhere roughly 1985 - 1992, vocal style close to Jason and the Scorchers or maybe Burnin House Of Love era X or Georgia Satellites or even Icicle Works (Understanding Jane, not Birds Fly). I honestly have no idea who the band was, they could have been DC area locals or maybe a national act, who knows? it was on a tape a friend gave me, not sure if it was before or after he lived in NOLA for a couple years so it might have been an artist local to the NOLA area. and of course i can't remember too many of the lyrics, only (best i can remember, might not be exact)

I read a few years ago there was a website that was designed to help you identify a song if you didn’t know it, the album or artist. I never used it but do recall reading it existed at the time.
Yesterday FB reminded me of my search, and I'm happy to say that Spotify came to my rescue today. The band spelled her name Cecelie, not Cecilia. And now I present to you "Hey Cecelie" by the Wisconsin cow punk band EIEIO:

I can't say that I've ever heard that song before tonight, but I think I would have liked it enough in 1988 to buy the cassette single.

Love me some Cow Punk. Definitely a more Northern feel to the genre than the Texas sourced ilk I fell in love with. Here's a little live E-I-E-I-O diddy I ran across.

Cool. Thanks. Took me down quite a rabbit hole. Although it looks like roots rock and psychobilly were the inspiration for cow-punk... and rockabilly predates it by a couple of decades!
