Since this forum has such an incredible depth of knowledge, I ask for some wise advise. I need a way to get phone calls from Caribbean islands at no cost to my clients. This will be for alarm system monitoring. Data from alarm systems, call will be less than 1 minute. VOIP scares me because of the periodic outages, and this is for security, so outages are bad. I know I will have to pay somebody for this, but we have not found a supplier. I don't have any connections with Cable and Wireless, who would probably be first in line. Hey, Gameboy, any help? This is for Trinidad,Barbados, Antigua, Bahamas, St. Lucia. Thanks, guys.
Where do the calls originate from, The US or The Caribbean?

Islands. That's the problem. In the States an 800 number is a piece of cake, phone providers in the islands are, uhhh, a little less progressive.

For Barbados you're almost SOL for a free solution, I was going to recommend VoIP PBXes with Zaptel(?) converter boxes linked through a VPN, but without VoIP...yeah, SOL. But avoid C&W, go with TeleBarbados. I'll ask the other IT guys at lunch and see if they have any ideas.
I would say that Gameboy has you well covered.
Ha, the power of the board!

Bless you grasshopper, I knew you would come through!! I'm not after totally free, just that the bill will be paid by my company here.
Everyone suggests the same thing - give TeleBarbados a call.

They provide the internet connection to our office (with SIP support for our VoIP) as well as our landlines, and it's way cheaper than C&W.

Yes, this group is incredible. Who would think a car forum could solve a problem like mine? It appears that TeleBarbados can take care of us in Barbados, St. Lucia and Antigua. Details are not all in, but soon come. THANK YOU GAMEBOY!! I'll be on Barbados in January, and I owe you a drink. Chuck
