OK, I seem to turn to GRM to gain info on anything and everything, so it seems fitting to ask here.
I'm sure we all know Pigeon, Scott Rohring died very unexpectedly. He was a helluva guy and had a family that loved him dearly. Many of us here would like to do something for him and his family. It appears flowers are out, we are waiting to hear if there is a charity that his family might want donations sent to.
I stepped up to the plate to handle this since I didn't want to be that guy who says "we need to do something" then steps back and waits for someone else to do it. The problem is, I don't know how to do whatever it is we're going to do.
I know I don't want to use my paypal address because I don't want to have to keep money seperate, and I just don't think it's wise.
Let's assume there will be a charity that the money will be going to (or even his family), where do I start?

Many of the larger charities have places on their website where you can set up a donation collection in someones' memory. Set it up and give the link to everyone.

Contact the charity and see if they have a paypal address that we can contact directly?

I did not hear of this. I'll be happy to send a little cash for whatever his family needs.

Most charities have a routine in place for notifying families that "Mr. Joe Blow has made a donation in the memory of..."

Perhaps Scott's law partner could tell the family to expect notifications about contributions made by "Mr./Ms. GRM Blow." If he also knew the preferred charity and the address of the local office of that charity, it might facilitate things. Just a thought.

Dr. Boost, you are generous to volunteer, but if it's to be charitable contributions in Scott's memory, it shouldn't be necessary.

Oy. This is the first I've heard of this, too. Is it common knowledge what happened?

Let us know what the preferred method of donation winds up being.

It's this thread for those who haven't heard.

Yeah, it appears that way. I had NO idea what it was going to involve, I thought it would be a bit of work. It appears that's all I had to do was mention it (wiping sweat off brow....).

You'll need to log in to post.
