I finally took the plunge: http://coloredtuffs.com/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=694

Yes, it's very brown. Wonder how it would look with some graphite Tuffs? If anyone else decides to treat themselves, tell Ed we say hi. He's a good guy who's way into old school BMX.

Cool! Nice price, too.

I want a retro-styled Quadangle.

Awesome! Those graphite colored Tuffs are a really good price considering how expensive originals can be. I haven't found anyone else making replicas either.

I've been wanting a 26" bmx for a while now, but can't seem to find one that doesn't handle like my mountain bike

I was close to doing the 26-inch bike but also wondered how they ride. A good friend has a 29 and swears by it, though.

ups.com says the bike arrives tomorrow.

I saw a couple new SE bikes at a shop this summer. They looked like pretty good bikes.

Are the 24's 8-spoke??? Regardless, a cruiser w/ Tuffs sounds like a great idea. That would be a great around-town bike, for sure. Singlespeed w/ style.

David's just jealous because I scored this last week:

$125. Has a few scratches but rides really nice. I'm so tempted to add some Tuff Wheels, though.

As they say on the interweb, Graphite Tuffs + SE = win.

Have you ridden a SE OM Flyer? They're 26" and reasonably priced or if you want higher end check out:

I'm a little surprised and glad to see this. I was looking into an old school PK Ripper the other day, until I learned that the fresh rebuilds were like 1000$ and I never ride the Specialized MTB I purposely bought with the shorty frame... wife would probably shoot me if I brought home another garage ornament.

i lol'd that JG took his new bike to a motel, but i'm glad i don't have to see either one of them smoking a cigarette after what was no doubt an awkward union of man and machine....

You know, I went back and forth between the 24- and 26-inch SE bikes. In the end, familiarity with the 24 and the desire to get back to the track won out. Although I'm not saying that I won't get a 26 one day down the road.

I kinda wish I could have gotten my Cyclecraft cruiser back into shape, but it needs much--tweaked forks, too long cranks, and a slightly too short frame. The wheels are still good--Bullseye cranks, Ambrosio rims and butted spokes.

The Floval was definitely on my short list when I was shopping for a cruiser, but I still held out getting one as to me that is the point that I admit to myself that I got old. Plus the 31-35 cruiser class at my local track is BRUTAL. Those guys race for blood!

Cyclecrafts were awesome, weren't they made in Florida?

BTW I think it's blasphemous to put Profiles on a Redline, Flights all the way!!!

I also have the "Worlds Largest Vintage BMX" show 1/2 hour away from me every June at the Mid-west Nationals. I'll have to get some pics together.

Yep, Cyclecraft is from Daytona Beach, Florida, and I used to ride with Shag. Looks like the brand is coming back: http://www.cyclecraftbmx.com/

I hate to take sides regarding Flights vs. Profiles. I have Flights on my cruiser and love the look of the classic Flight chainring. My crank arms would never stay tight, though, but I'll just assume that the bike's previous owner didn't keep up on the maintenance. I have Profiles on my DK and have never had to touch them. One day I'll finish building up my Kappa. I have graphite Tuffs for it and not much else. I still haven't decided on which cranks, though--Flights or Profiles?

The SE showed up today. I'll hopefully have a chance to put it together this weekend.

And 24-inch Tuffs are temping.
