So, a while back a good friend backed into the Mighty Dak, smushing the roll pan, tailgate and one corner of the box. Rather than go through insurance, I decided to search for a replacement box. Found one a mint one today, guy will even install it for me – $750 all in!
It's white (Mighty's black...hmm, should this go in the mixed-marriage thread?) so a paint job will be in order this year. I go back and forth between selling it or keeping it, but at least having it look good will make it an easier sell.
Don't you just hate these vehicles that become like dysfunctional family members? They drive ya crazy but you can't get rid of them.

This precisely sums up my relationship with my newest motorcycle.

I had a veritable stockpile of expensive, hard to find parts that I never got around to actually getting them on the truck. Slowly been selling them off, then regretting it. I could have one hell of a track car for what I've spent on this silly beast. But it just sounds... so damn good. Sigh.

build and drive what you want....there may be choices that make more sense to others, but you are doing what makes you happy.

100% describes me and my e30. Let's hope some new star specs and an autox next weekend will renew some fire.

Or you could have one hell of a track Dak.
That's the plan for my Shelby Dak.
Get the bed painted, drive it home from the shop. Then you'll get that spark back for the truck.

That's what I'm afraid of.
I just got rid of an incredible custom exhaust system and full drop kit – it was in the way and the cash came in handy.
I don't want to fall in love with my truck all over again – I just don't have enough room for it and it sure isn't a suitable lapping vehicle for a track like Mosport.
My MX-3 just skips around that track like it was made for it, but it needs work too and my meager budget is telling me to pick one and concentrate on it.
What a drivetrain that truck has though, I love the hard shifts with the custom tranny and shift kit. The cam's so lopey the entire truck rumbles and quivers at stop lights

I want a track slut truck with a lumpy exhaust.
Maybe I could try to make my planned flatbed aerodynamic.

Buy mine, it's a right slut. Dirtiest sounding exhaust you ever heard.

I wan do eet wif mine tho.
I think it'd be funny as hell to see a square body ram haul assing around a racetrack.

Does it count as dirtiest ever if it's just headers?

This.
I've got a few grand in parts in the garage for the Miata, and another grand or so to order.
Thankfully all of my playing with E30s always netted me a profit.

[Beavis] Huh, uh huh, she said it's a slut...[/Beavis]
So, what did you do to the truck to make it a dirty slut? I know my 3.9 is on it's last legs and needs an upgrade.....

It originally had a 3.9, but I decided I wanted more power. Bought a 360 in Buffalo and hauled it home - tore it apart in the mudroom off my kitchen.
Windage tray, lumpy cam (210/220-512/512 110), Mopar intake manifold, 1.6 roller rockers, bigger ported throttle body, larger injectors, headers, double roller timing chain. Tranny is a customized 46RE with kevlar bands and clutches and a transgo shift kit.
Here's some pics with a bit of write-up:

honestly, this was how i felt when i had my 4x4 hardbody to work on, plus maintenance and work that needed to be done on my DD mazdaspeed3. trying to balance the needs of the two led to me not wanting to do anything with either one. i ended up selling both and getting a DD that could also handle weekend camping/offroading vehicle duties, which is what the hardbody was supposed to be. i'm much happier when i am doing the occasional work on the xterra because i don't have that PLUS another vehicle to keep in working order and then do more work to it after that.

Exactly – plus I have my beater, which spends most of its time shuttling between manufacturers in Toronto. Between the three of them, no garage, no time, and having to detail and return weekly press cars, I can get pretty sick of cars and their various needs.
