Decided that after having a heart attack and a mini stroke, and turning 70, that being an executive was getting to be a bit much. 50 miles commuting daily on I 95. Was a good job, actually the best I ever had. Good bosses, good products, but, I'm dog tired of it. So I have gone from Director of International sales to semi retired. The break day was 7/3. Since then I have been doing basically the same thing, but at home, dealing with a few of my former clients, with my wife. Funny thing is, we are making more now than before. In the first week! There have been a few hiccups, but it is looking quite good. Oh, I can take a nap whenever I want! So, soon you will see my ads in GRM. The future looks so bright I gotta wear shades.
In reply to cwh: Looks like I'm the first to congratulate you. Enjoy every day to the max.

Right now, processing three nice orders, ordering in materials, getting freight forwarders lined up. Waiting for money to arrive via Paypal. This is a bit more complex than I had expected, but having a ball!

Congratulations! Enjoy it and have fun.
(I dropped out last year at age 65 and I'm enjoying every minute of retirement. After more than 40 years of similar work, there are no more stressful, unrealistic deadlines and commitments imposed by somebody else. Now I do whatever, whenever).
Congrats!! Now you can go out on the road and follow your nephew around!
Let us know when the ads are up so we can check them out!

Re: My nephew- My two sons are on tour with him now. With his broke leg and all. I think they are pushing his wheelchair around.
Congrats - sounds like the right decision! Best of luck with the new endeavor!
Great. I approve of your new direction in life...(not that it amounts to anything).
You're damned tootin' you made the right choice. Now get busy livin'.

Retired in the Fort, My life's ambition. Carry on and make us proud.
Glad to hear it, old man. A few of the GRM guys are having good luck with work. Maybe we can spread it around, eh?
Keep up the hard work... and the naps. Keep them up, too.
What is it that you are doing now?
Good for you! It took me quite a while to get used to it, but retirement is everything I heard it was.
Enjoy.

Reply to BGCast- We export CCTV equipment mostly to the Caribbean islands, dealing with installing dealers. Have a few domestics, but not many. Intend to do more of that. It is interesting and you learn a lot about other cultures, and get a better appreciation of 'Murica.
