Funny ads, but FRAM filters are among the junky cheapo ones with a paper medium. I use Toyota-brand filters, specifically the 20v Blacktop extended ones.

the toyota OEM filters are awesome. I run them on my neons. use one for a 5vz, little more capacity and the antidrainback works well enough it helps with lifter tick on first start up.

Oil filters are always the part I use OEM for. I get the factory filters at the dealer for less then the crappy aftermarket ones......so no real reason to not use the oem ones.

I've always stuck with NAPA gold / Wix filters. or OEM in a pinch.

I'm still pissed at Fram for selling me crap filters for years while they told me they were good. They knew they were crap. I don't care if they come out with the best filter in the world tomorrow, I'm not buying it. Berkeley them.

I use Genuine Toyota filters in everything, or a WIX if I am out of stock and need something right now. Champion (Walmart private label "SuperTec") is my next choice.

Every MFGR has different grades of filters, don't buy the cheapest one....

I have a Wix filter (not the cheap one) that I took off my Dakota that has no spring holding the media in place. For some reason it did not rattle on install.....

So even buying the not_cheap filter is no guarantee you will get a good one.
