Interesting that he's still using an H-pattern shifter, doesn't seem to slow him down though!
Is he just locking a tire every time he brakes or is that smoke from his exhaust?
He's burning tons of oil on overrun, that's for sure.

That's what i thought... wonder what's causing it in this case.
looks like it's no lift, no clutch shifting ... and damn that's a close ratio gearbox ... he's in 5th before the first turn ... not only wouldn't I be there that quickly 
but I'd probably still be in 2nd gear ... 3rd at the most

What was the knob he kept turning on the dash?
boost controller. pretty common for the time period. Porsche used them quite a bit in their factory turbo race cars and so did others.
I figured it must have been an actuator for something and not an adjustment knob since he turned it clockwise about a zillion times per lap.
