Sweet! Only thing it's missing is a drag strip. I can imagine a couple of hundred different autocross courses using the infield and portions of the track.
Isn't that where they have all of the Lucas Oil/On the Edge bus and truck-camper races?
Well...maybe more like demolition derby on an oval...but I digress.

That would be cool.. Challenge = autocross / concours / drag strip / CRAZY 8!
Last car left that can roll under it's own power wins.
might have to create weight classes then. imagine what some big piece of American iron from the '70s would do too a CRX or Miata on a figure 8 track...though it might make things interesting.
I got to the line about High End Planned communities nearby, and stopped.
This track will cease to exist in 10 years. You are buying the land for the sake of the land at $75/acre, that's IT.
Eric
That's 75K per acre, a tad high in this market. That area has been slammed by the housing downturn. Can't see that being a viable investment for the property. I will agrree on the 10 year idea. How long until Mrs. Fussbudget starts to complain about the noise and the lights? Same thing happened to the old Moroso track in Hollywood.
I've done a drift event at this facility. Nice place, especially considering what I'm used to seeing from small oval tracks. It's right next to a pretty successful drag facility. (barely visible in the foreground of the aerial shots, should be easy to pick out with Google earth.) I'm sure we could work something out with them.
Of course, I don't think anybody around here has 4.5 mil lying in a shoebox, but it's a lovely thought.
1000 shares at 4,500.00 = possible. I believe something quite similar was recently done in Colorado, but much further into the boonies. Just think, for two challenge cars you could own (a small piece of ) a race track!! Also, having the racers own the track could be better for the racers. Abundant cheap help. In ten years, sell out, we all become Millionaires!!

Surely, you lie.
a local ski area did that more than a decade ago. Very successful when all is said and done. There was also a group in the northeast that were attempting to do the same to create a 4x4 park.

I hear ya! Local track since 1956 is getting heat from the Yuppies that built tinderboxes just off turn three.
Tim, rent!
wow i cna't believe that. I pretty much grew up at that race track as a kid/the drag strip next door. I was either there or at Sebring every weekend in my childhood. Would be very sad to see this place be turned into a cookie cutter home community or apartments/condos. Especially since there is a drag strip right next door. Hopefully another car nut purchases the property and keeps everything rolling there.
