Well Tiff told me that her Tahoe was leaking fluid the other day when she was driving it. She had gone to he parents place and saw a big pool under the truck when she came back out.

I checked it out and it was a coolant leak. The next fun part was trying to figure out where it was coming from. Yesterday had the thing running in the driveway for 30 minutes and nothing. Heck the thing barely got up to running temp. So today I took it out for a drive around the valley and got home and hey finally it was leaking. Then came the fun of trying to find the leak. Drips were coming basically down from the far forward driver side corner right under the corner of the radiator.

Looked and looked I did not see any lines leaking or anything like that. Finally noticed coolant on the ribs of the side tanks of the radiator. I wiped those dry and after a minute they were wet again. So I am thinking the gasket between the side tank and the radiator has gone out.

Anyway local stealership wants $650 for a new radiator Sadly where I live no one else has one in stock (the curse of living in the sticks). Anyway I figure if I am going to have to order one I would check with you guys first to see if you had a recommended place online or brand to look for that isn't going to break my wallet.

Rig is a '99 Tahoe LT bone stock with a 5.7 Vortec 4x4.

Rock Auto has it for about $100ish. $190ish for OEM ACDelco. (prices do not inlude shipping)

I shop there a lot and have had no problems.

RockAuto. Use the 5% off code in the Shop Talk forum: EAB969356E8F86

Last week I ordered brake parts on Monday, they were at my parents door less than 48 hours later (I ordered the standard shipping).

Hmmm looks like the Ac Delco one that I would need is $230 from Rock Auto (has the oil cooler). Hell of a lot better than the $650 the dealership wants I'm guessing for the same damn thing.

Just like all engineers are overpaid monkeys that can't engineer a paper bag. Right?

Hey, I know, let's help the guy instead of complaining that he doesn't like overpaying for parts!

Rockauto/Amazon is definitely the way to go here. I doubt the actual part is any different.

It gets really old when its EVERY berkeleyING THREAD. I don't know any other business we (royal) continually rip. If individual dealers set the price for the parts that the manufacturer has them sell, then go for it. They don't.

Excellent opinion. Please make a thread about it, and let this guy find his low priced radiator.

I was kinda bummed out to find out the only radiator shop basically does nothing but order parts anymore. When I talked to him he even suggested just getting the AC Delco radiator from Rock Auto. I described what I was seeing and he said he had seen that quite a bit with those Chevy radiators. He said he is the only one there anymore so he doesn't do repairs anymore.

I figure while I am at it I will be changing out the cap and hoses while I have everything out. Nice thing is looks like I can do all the work from up top and won't even have to crawl under the rig to get to the bottom hose clamp. Kinda nice. Oh and it will give me a chance to clean out a huge pile of dead bees.

Around here that dealership is about the only game for at least an hour in any direction for GM parts. They tend to take advantage of that.
