for me, since I was a Pat's fan back in the AFL days ... back before the merger ... back before the Super Bowl was invented ...

I think that Belichick is the smartest coach out there, he finds loopholes where others don't even know there are rules .. which then forces the NFL to change the rules ... I love it ...

I think that Brady is maybe the GOAT ... thought it's not really possible to compare eras ... what with how the game has been changed (rule wise)

I really appreciate way Belichick has managed to come up with a potential championship team this yr while working around all the injuries ... even more than the other teams ...

Carolina being pretty much the exception with regard to how injuried they've been (some, but no where near as many injuries as the rest of the teams that are left)

and anything that can embarrass the commissioner is something I'm all for ... and a NE SB win would be a huge embarrassment for him ...

Belichick and Brady are certainly good at their jobs. But the fact that Danny Amendola is not suspended for at least the same number of games as Vontaze Burfict and wasn't even ejected from the game pretty much sums up the NFL. Then you have Chandler Jones taking a bad trip on some drugs and the local cops try to cover the whole affair up until they can't. The league apparently is not interested in finding out what drugs that guy was using. No reason to question or drug test the guy, just let him play with no questions asked. The NFL is not about sport and competition, but it all about entertainment. It is the equivalent of WWE for football. I enjoy watching it, but don't be fooled into thinking it is about who can play the game the best. It is not.

I've taken much the same stance over the last year or so. The NFL is entirely about making the NFL money. They're not overly concerned about level playing fields or penalizing cheaters if it might negatively affect the play on the field. I realized I was emotionally invested in a bunch of millionaire grown men playing a child's game, just to make 31 billionaires even more money. I'm not saying I don't tune in for a game every now and then if nothing else is going on, but I've usually got better things to do now than make extremely wealthy men even wealthier every Sunday.

so far I don't think ANY offensive player has been ejected much less suspended for ducking their head ... the double standard there sucks ... as much as I would like to see NE win, Amendola screwed up there ... damnit guys ... keep you head up ... DO NOT DUCK your head

supposedly it was synthetic marijuana ... legal (or at least not illegal ) where he lives/did the drugs

don't know whether illegal as far as the NFL is concerned

I don't think they are sandbagging. They got their asses handed to them in the second half of that game.

Wilson should have taken intestinal grounding penalties instead of thrown those balls.

I think it's going to be a bloodbath next week in Broncos vs Patriots, like usual. Unless Manning wakes up, in which case it be a good game at best. But at least we'll get to see the final Manning/Brady bowl - and the Broncos DID beat the Patriots in the regular season, so not all hope is lost. Carolina shouldn't have too much trouble with Arizona.

I have to say, I'm looking forward to Panthers vs Patriots for the big game.

I would really like to see manning win it. This is really his last chance at it, although not much of one. Hard to believe he's only won it once.

One comment I heard post-game was Carolina was essentially "saving" some of their more creative play options (offensive plays and defensive "looks") during the second half. Why use up a lot of their new plays if they don't have to? It's not college and you don't get anything extra for blanking an opponent by 50 points. Yeah, it got a bit sketchy near the end, but I don't think they were ever really worried.

1998-2016 and he's finally got a defense worth a crap. I'd say he has chance. Though it was tough to watch at the beginning of the season, the broncos running game is taking pressure off of Manning's arm. Opening up a 'new' half of plays for Manning to call gives him much better options.

Broncos are certainly gonna have to up their game across the board though.

I love love love that farve and manning are currently TIED for the all time record in number of regular season starts won.

You could say the same about any sport, everybody cheats and the standards for the rules can be different for everybody. Think about College sports, Cam Newton and his dad went to the college that gave him the most $$$$ under the table. Now he is a hero, Auburn was not sanctioned, he did not have to give away any trophies, like USC and OSU have been hit with.

I'm pretty sure their code word for sandbagging is "playing conservative".....the entire second half it looked like they were just taking it easy and screwing around.

Take back the first 3 minutes of that Panthers/Seahawks game and the Panthers get their butts kicked. The past several weeks or so have seen the Panthers barely avoid losses in the final plays of the game. It's just pure dumb luck they are where they are. Kinda like missing an easy 27 yard field goal kick. It's always better to be lucky than good. I thought the Steelers played the better game, but just got beat. Even Green Bay made one heckuva run. A coin toss can decide the whole game.

I think this weekend again proved that the NFL Divisional round is the best pro sports weekend going. I also think this year the Championship games are hosting the four best teams in the league (although KC and Seattle fans may have a legit case).

My heart is with the Broncos and Cardinals, but my brain is with the Panthers and Patriots.
