Going on vacation next week with swmbo's family and her parents have agreed to watch our son for a evening so we can go out. Anyone have ideas for a nice fairly inexpensive date?

Charleston comes up here fairly often. There are a few locals and lots of fans, I know I've posted on the subject before.

Maybe read through those and ask in this thread for some clarification or more precise pointers?

For a nice restaurant I was looking at snob, fig, or husk. I love seafood, the wife not so much. Recommendations?

I love Fig.

Snob less so.

Would love to try Husk, but didn't have a reservation so I was out of luck.

Recommend reservations for all three, especially if there's a cruise ship in town.

I know the wife and I really liked Fleet Landing. I think its an unspoken treasure in Chucktown. Great food, good prices, and good selection of varied food on the menu.

My favorite: the Wreck of the Richard and Charlene. http://www.wreckrc.com/ Food and pricing are great, the atmosphere is not exactly 'date night' unfortunately.

The Boathouse at Breach Inlet is probably my all time second favorite. http://www.boathouserestaurants.com/ordereze/default.aspx

All those downtown joints are more into presentation than anything else and the prices reflect it. Of those, Poogan's Porch is probably the best for date night. http://www.poogansporch.com/ The atmosphere is great!

Thinking of doing the coast road north after we leave Daytona on the 17th, might have to do a night in Charleston just to try one of these out.

In reply to 3brokenhondas:

We've been to SNOB a few times and always had a great meal. If it is a "date night" Charleston Cooks is next door. We did a cooking class together there and it was a lot of fun. This was during the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, so it was venison, wild-caught fish, seafood, etc.

I think the cooking store is owned by the same group that owns SNOB.

Only been to Charleston a couple of times but we had brunch at Husk in downtown and the food there was very, very good. Also that have a really cool detached bar that has good bartenders.
