I can't say I'm shocked about Nissan cutting like this, but they clearly don't have a plan for a goal for the future that I can point towards. Even the Aryia with it's battery range feels a generation behind other EVs.

Developing that Rube Goldberg variable compression engine couldn't have helped the bottom line either.

At the same time, one has to try to innovate if one wants to regain relevancy.

The British car industry, for example... didn't.

That was the whole point behind the GM bailout in the late 00s.  They spent a lot of time and money trying to hatch new technologies like the Volt and they were *this* close to bringing it to fruition.

The Nissan innovations tho, never seemed to be apart of a more cohesive goal to me.
GM has had failures- the most recent being the Blackwing- but that at least was planned for a model range focused on luxury AND speed, changed in the last few years because of the rise of electrics. That variable-compression engine meanwhile, I can't remember the last time I heard about it.

Vision.

NISSAN that I am aware of, has no  cohesive Vision to sell to the buyers. Shame, cause they do have some neat  stuff in the historical closet to work with.

That said, I don't see any other car company that really has a  clearly defined vision that they are pushing.

"We got  some cars, buy one if you want one" seems to be the state of automotive marketing.

Except  for Jaguar.

Does anyone know if this also effects infinity? My kid just started as a tech at a local Infinity dealer after the ford dealer in town closed.

There was talk yesterday that Nissan Corporate was starting to allow Infinity dealerships to consolidate within existing Nissan dealerships.

I can't believe Nissan has managed to get it so wrong for so long. I'm hoping the '25 Patrol comes in at a reasonable price (ie. undercuts the Bronco and 4Runner while still being as capable) and helps bail them out. I love my X-Terra but it's getting long in the tooth.
