What's crazy is that the proclamations made in this thread (about Toyota ending producing of trucks in the USA) never came to fruition.
I guess sometimes necro-canoes do show us the errors in our predictions.
But it is interesting that the prediction was that Toyota would stop producing trucks, and they didn't. But years later Ford will now ONLY produce "trucks" (sort of)

When I started reading this thread I didn't realize it was old, and was like What? this doesn't make any sense when Ford is moving most of its production towards trucks.
Given the timing of the original article I would guess that it was addressing the closure of the NUMMI plant, which was a joint venture with GM (in Fremont CA) where they built Tacomas. Obviously they didn't stop making tacos, they just moved them to Texas.
That same plant is now the Tesla facility.
