Good on Dolly Parton and Lebron James. Both doing great things for education. JayZ/Dre/Drake has done amazing things for education as well

Damn:
"Dr. Dre teamed up with Jimmy Lovine to donate $70 million to the University of Southern California."

I WONDER HOW MANY RAPPERS HAVE DONE ANYTHING LIKE THAT
First, lets take the thinly veiled racism out of it.
Puff Diddy, or whatever his moniker is now, founded a charter school in Harlem. Chance the Rapper has donated over $1M to Chicago public schools; raised another $2+ million for the schools art programs, etc. And he's only 27 years old. There are a ton of examples like this. Do a google search.
Secondly, I personally think that we should take down all the Confederate Participation trophies and replace them with Dolly statues. She's awesome.
In reply to mtn (Forum Supporter) :
Second that. WRT statutes It can be argued Dolly has done more for the South than any one individual in the last 75 years (discounting MLK of course). Beautiful lady inside and out, we could use more like her. And it would be a much better looking statute than some old guy riding a horse.

yes.
Cheap shot. I wonder how many people posting and re-posting that same cheap shot have donated much of anything toward education in their lives... Probably a similar group of people who insist racism isn't a big problem anymore.

Lol, that was the first thing I noticed. I'm actually pretty sure I've seen this in my email box from my grandpas friend.
If we're going to compare Dolly to hip hop artists in a light where the hip hop community can improve, let's focus in two areas.
Career opportunities and equal pay for women, and control of their own bodies.
And support for the LQBGT+ community.
She's always quietly championed those causes where hip hop has lagged behind. It's not as bad as it was 20+ years ago, but there's still headway to be made.
I greatly prefer Nas's music to Lil Nas X's music, but I'm still able to respect the hell out of the change that Lil Nas X is unapologetically bringing.
Even more rappers paying it forward.

But let's not take away the accomplishments of dolly. She's pretty awesome.
Okey Doke, thinly veiled racism removed. It was a cut 'n past job fellas. You know I'm no racist right?
I don't think you are.... just that last sentence blew the whole "I love dolly" thing out of the water- and really marginalized what she does.
But now it's better! Thanks for doing the right thing! And now its 100% Dolly approved.
Many times, people who come from nothing and become successful, are the most generous (sometime sadly to their own detriment)

This can be a lesson in being careful where you're cutting from. A post like that is textbook "social engineering" designed to create a warm and fuzzy feeling and then punctuate it with a negative reaction. It seems innocent, but rest assured, it is absolutely not. Whoever put that bit at the end knew exactly what they were doing and attempting to achieve.
