for a guy who got WAY too close to the drive belt on a way too fast super HP engine.. he seemed pretty calm about it.

I think I would calmly unfasten the guys belts, take off his helmet and whoop his a$$. There is no way the driver didn't notice the body being raised.

It was a mechanical issue. The supercharger lost a stud which caused the car to lurch forward.

My father tells the story of a guy on the flightline that got sucked into the engine of an F-86 Sabre. Dad grabbed the guys legs and yanked down on them. The engine was stopped in time but was destroyed by a set of ear muffs. Unfortunately the guy was on his belly and 200+ #'s will break both legs if you pull hard enough. Also being that close to a spinning turbine without hearing protection causes permanent damage.
