I had another customer with a huge oak that didn't look healthy. I asked him several times to move under his carport. He decided that was a great time to show me where a limb had fallen earlier today and put a 6 inch hole in his yard. "Yeah just think if that had hit your head."

Just saw a news report from an Orlando channel- holy cow, the erosion on the coast. The news person mentioned that the sea wall was taken out by a previous storm, and Nicole went from there to removing homes- an estimate of 30-40 yards of erosion. And the homes are up on about 10ft or so of sand. With that gone... Yikes.

Made it here to Hutchinson Island (barrier island outside Stuart and Jensen Beach) today at 3 or so. Island seems in fine shape, the bridges were open and there is limited debris around. The beach in front of the condo looks ok for now, surf is still big but beach is still there. Power is on, grocery store wasn't totally decimated, total wine was well stocked, all is well.
The drive down today from Florence wasn't bad, it started to rain in GA, then patches of rain until Titusville or so, then sunny. Winds were notable, but tolerable. There was enough of a headwind to cut fuel economy from 32 to 24 though.
This is a great picture to show how land affects wind speeds vs open ocean. Brighter colors are higher wind speeds. Notice how in the Gulf and off the East coast the speeds pick up significantly.
