I made and sent off an application to what I'd probably consider to be my dream job. I've worked in the parts department at Ford dealers for the past 20 years, and recently saw an opening to run the parts department at a well known racecar builder/restoration shop/seller waaaay out in California. Pretty much doing the same thing I do now, but on much, much cooler stuff. Vintage race cars to modern super cars. All work done in-house. I think I'd be about a perfect fit given my rather wide knowledge of all things automotive (like any good GRM member!) especially parts and mechanics, and hope that came thru in my resume! I've never been to California, and never had any interest is living there until now.
So now I wait for a response... and hope the pay would be enough for me to live close to wine country, lol.
The West is awesome. Good luck!

Is it Canepa? Fingers crossed for you!
Go west, young man! It's great out here- complain about the taxes (gun laws, smog laws, hippies, yada yada yada) all you want, but the weather and living really can't be beat.
Good luck!
come on out.
if you need any help out west, feel free to look me up

It is.
That's amazing. When I read the article about Canepa in Classic Motorsport, I thought how cool it would be to work for a guy like that. I hope it works out for you.
That's a pretty area. You'd be about 20 miles from me. Be prepared for sticker shock at rents. Let me know if you have any questions about the general area.
Good luck and may the parts gods be with you.
I would still be living in L.A. if I could afford it.

And it's a lot more expensive now than when you left.

My son lived in University subsidized Grad Student housing in Irvine, CA and they also had staff subsidized housing too (UC Irvine).
His $645 monthly shared 2 bedroom apartment probably really was worth $1645 a month on the open market. Housing is nuts.
Thanks guys!
I first learned about the company while at Rennsport Reunion 1 back in 2001, and have followed a lot of their projects since. I wait with my fingers (and toes!) crossed. Lol.
