Since we have been talking about boats, I thought you guys might get a kick out of what I just saw. Getting onto I 95, a big dually passes me on the left, pulling a big boat, probably 32-35'. Run about/ cuddy cabin. Painted gray. No graphics, no markings. As the cabin area comes by, I see no fishing equipment, then notice radio antennas, 5 of them. Comes completely by, I notice the power. FOUR 300hp Merc outboards!! Then I see, up on top, a single blue strobe light. John Law does not want those pesky smugglers to get away, I guess. I would love to have a ridealong on that one. Wonder what top speed is on something like that. Not too worried about fuel consumption, I'm sure.

drug smugglers win again.
sounds like the new coast guard boats they have coming out.
And even with all that HP.. still can't outrun the Motorola, the Dolphin, and the Jayhawk helicopters

I saw the Blue Thunder boats back in the day. 2000hp catamarans, 20hrs between overhauls. This one lookes a bit more durable. No, they won't outrun a chopper, and around here the Coasties helicopters have machine guns and are not afraid to use them. A go-fast boat does not run well with .30 cal through the engines. Smuggling has a high cost of doing business.

Gray has me thinking Homeland Security Boat. Here on the Great Lakes we now have these running gray on gray graphics.

I saw it on a road called Marina Mile. (State Road 84) Lots of marine places, and it's very possible that it was not finished yet. All our local LEOs mark their boats very conspicuously. This one had zero marking or decals yet. The gray color made me think homeland security or Coast Guard.
