But at least you've done it once! You'll probably get to do it again when you decide "berkeley it, i'm squirting this thing."
Dude... you just gave me shivers... I'm willing to bet there is more wiring in the power seats of an 8 series than in an entire Spitfire...
And oh yes... if the car has power seats, they WILL work as far as she's concerned...
Yeah, wiring/computing is crazy on those-for example: they roll down the windows slightly as you close the door just so it will close easier. Nucking futts!
Corvettes do that now...it's actually to get a tighter seal for better NVH...

Current MINI's do that as well... works fine... until the motor glitches... then it's annoying... I currently need to tear apart the driver's door of her '03 MCS to clean the motor contacts...
My '90 Integra did NOT have this feature... and getting the doors to close properly (w/o the glass hanging up on the gasket) was a PITA...

What is it with women and 8 series?? It is at the top of my wife's list too!
In all seriousness though, if you do look at the one with a popped motor, consider an LSx swap. That car with an LS motor would be fantastic.
My wife hasn't seen one of these that I'm aware of, and if I see one coming while she's paying attention I turn...quickly.

My wife's dream car is a G Wagon as well... there seems to be a trend here...
Mrs.Mini wanted one also, but I was able to get her to go for the early 90's Montero. It was a MUCH cheaper alternative and I told her if she wanted to, I'd put that tri-star thingy on the grill and most people wouldn't know the difference! It was a great vehicle, solid as a rock and dependable, and better gas mileage than the Benz.
My girlfriend hates G-wagens, but loves Range Rovers.
I figure, either way, i'm screwed.
I made the mistake of showing her this thread yesterday, and now she wants an 850. She won't settle for a V8. Wants the V12.
And then the conversation got interesting:
"Could you put a 2jz in it?"
Hrrrmmmm.....

the scary part is when she gets on one of these kicks, it often doesn't end until she buys one...
8/2003.... Wanted a MINI... went to dealer to "look at them and see about prices..." Bought one off the showroom floor (pure lucky coincidence it was exactly what she wanted...).
9/2004... wants a Volvo 1800ES... buys the first one she looks at...
12/2005... wants a Spitfire... again... buys first one she looks at...
I can only hope that since she would have to sell the Spitfire to get the money for an 8 series... and the classic car market right now stinks... that this may blow over...
