I love how so many of the spider horror films use the (relatively) harmless tarantulas and wolf spiders. Poor guys are getting a bad name. Now...to be fair...I would still have to resist with all my might from destroying them with a blunt object..I hate spiders shiver.

I honestly think I would rather have those than the black widows and brown recluse that are around here! (SoFla) They are a lot smaller, but more dangerous. A brown recluse bite will leave a crater bigger than a quarter after it eventually heals. Both will require a hospital visit or two.

Not me, I wouldn't have to try very hard to resist smashing him. "You stay over there and I'll stay here." If you're that big and in my garage, you get the pushbroom out the door.

I don't have a problem sharing my living space with the occasional wolf spider. There is one roaming free in the bathroom now. But...

Anything that rears up in a threating posture, that isn't contained in a terrarium, gets the squish.

I did entertain the thought of getting a tarantula for a pet once but I thought the feeder crickets would keep me up at night.

OT...Wasps, hornets and yellow jackets will make me scream and run away to find the most poisonous spray available on the market. They are pure evil and must be destroyed.

Not so for everyone. I know that I have been bitten by 2 black widows in the past. The black widows bites were no worse than any other spider bite to me. virtually no reaction at all, a small bump that went away after a day or two.

Now then there are also those that bitten by either of these could mean flat out death. It all depends on how your body processes the poison, not every persons body reacts the same way to the same amount of toxins. Some people have a far worse reaction from the browns than others. THe brown recluse venom causes a necrosis of the flesh around the bite. For some people this can be very small and others it could spread quite far especially if they have a bad reaction and it is not treated.

Now far worse than either of those was a bald face hornet stung me on the back of my neck at the base of my skull (think where your spine attaches). That felt like I got hit in the back of the head with a ball peen hammer. I had a welt back there for a couple months and a horrible headache afterwards.

Another bad one was stumbled into the beginnings of a new fire ant nest. Got a few of the little buggers on me without noticing and got bit several times on my hands and arms. That was not pleasant.
