During a rerun of the Colbert report today one of the commercials was for some foundation that rescues polar bears or something.

I had a hearty LOL. Someones advertising department has a sense of humor.

I personally find it more amusing the fact that the World Wildlife Foundation and World Wrestling Federation share the same initials.

That's why the World Wrestling Federation became World Wrestling Entertainment. I think that's what WWE stands for. Should I be embarrassed for knowing this? I never really watched it unless I was at a cousin's house. Though I did enjoy the video games that were based off the franchise.

If we don't fix the global warming problem, the only place where we'll ever see polar bears is in the zoo.

Why would I ever WANT to see a polar bear someplace where there isn't inch-thick lexan between the two of us?

Probably Nature Boy's fault; he's older than most living polar bears.

Add in "Dontcha know..." and it would sound like Palin, aside from any form of concern about the environment.

You have to prove that we caused it in the first place before we can even think about "fixing" it. And a very huge "FALSE" to the standard statement that all or even most climatologists agree on the cause(s).

Come to my house.

You can shovel all the global warming off my driveway for me, we've had a record amount of it here.

In fact, I'm going outside to idle all the V8s in my driveway for a couple hours to see if it helps speed up the greenhouse effect.

Damn, I thought this was a thread about ironing. I have several issues with starching and collars that I wanted to discuss...

I'm very Conservative, Libertarian sometimes, and I vote Republican much of the time but aside from her "dirty librarian" looks, she really began to get on my nerves.

She has such a large family, that I bet she knows how to iron really well.

Global warming doesn't mean everywhere will become warm and sunny like Florida. It means the weather will get very extreme and nasty. Hence icebergs increasing, not disappearing.

Illinois just had it's wettest year on record.

And some reasons given above is why i prefer the term "climate change" over "global warming". Winters in my area have been getting milder, but we still get a few Big snow falls a year.

And for those who site record snow fall as proof that GW isn't happening, is it colder than it was 10, 20 years ago, or are you just getting more winter percipitation?

But even the most ardent of the "sky is falling" crowd must admit to the media's bias toward global warming and the horrible "fact" that we are losing glacial ice every year when it's really not true. We have been dealing with ups and downs and the cyclical nature of weather patterns for eons. To look at the climate in quick and easy snapshots is to do a major dis-service to our understanding of what is really going on (which is most certainly out of our control). It's really all-too-easy to bebunk much of the GW hysteria. I guess it's just not "cool" enough to make the evening news. http://www.tysknews.com/Depts/Environment/debunking.htm

Gee, then the documented retreat of the polar ice caps from areas as far south as Georgia are due to a wormhole in space causing our injury to the environment to be sent back 15,000 years or so.

Once again before all the treehuggers start screeching yes I do think we need to clean up our act. I just don't buy the whole 'global warming' thing. Of course that won't stop the more virulent from jumping up and down and screaming 'HERETIC'!

Its funny that since this economic crunch all the big network news channels cut at least one of the reporting teams. Across the board the "Global Warming" coverage teams got the ax.

The media need something to frighten us all with.

I saw a headline that read "What happened to the bird flu?"

Great, they've tried ebola, bird flu, global warming, terrorists, climate change and now we're back to bird flu. As it turns out bird flu killed LESS people than the plain-jane flu does.

I'm all for saving the environment but it's mostly out of a "don't be an shiny happy person" feeling that I have. You know, recycle so you don't leave garbage everywhere, leave the cat convertor on your car because there's really no reason to take it off. That sort of thing.
