The E36 M3storm of fail ride, that's been my life recently, that is.

It all starts with a migraine I had. That lasted THREE WEEKS. On day 21, I finally can get a doctor to do something more than pills for me (So it was liquid drugs, but damned if they didn't work). WHILE I'm having this infusion, my wife is going to get White Castle breakfast. That was gonna be awesome. Then, she got rear ended. Fortunately, it was in my winter beater, so A- it actually wasn't really damaged, and B- I wouldn't have cared if it was. The scratches put in the bumper are worth more than what I paid for the car. SO- she's out with a light concussion and whiplash. That's a whole PILE of fun.

Exactly one week later, I get woke up to my wife sobbing. I figure A- she just got a call that someone died, or B- she totalled the car and killed someone. NOPE. We got option C- which included her doing a Looney Tunes on the fresh patch of ice and going ass over teakettle, and busting her skull AGAIN. One trip to the ER with a c-collar and a second concussion LATER, we're back at home. (Keep in mind, she's the only one working right now).

This brings us to last night. Her phone rings. I hear "what...WHAT?!?!?!" oh berkeley me, this isn't good, and I just swallowed enough sedatives to take down a moose (I don't sleep for E36 M3, and the whole migraine thing). Turns out, her grandfather had a stroke earlier in the day, and that lead to a brain bleed. The doctors theorize he had the stroke earlier in the day, and he'd slowly been brain bleeding all day, until about 9pm when they called the ambulance. We got there about 945 (remember me and all those sedatives? Yeah..... that was an interesting ride) and he was on life support. I got to watch as the priest read him his last rights. He was kept on a breathing tube for about 3 hours while they gathered up all the family they could to say their goodbyes- I sorta stayed in the background because as it turns out, managing an overtired 2 year old in a neuro ICU isn't a whole lot of fun. At about 1am, they removed the breathing tube, and he was pronounced dead 30min later. berkeleying AWESOME. So here I am with no sleep, massively medicated, with a wife that has just lost her grandfather (with whom she was arguably closer than her parents), and I get to manage the kid solo mode for the foreseeable future. Can I get off this ride now?

E36 M3ty story, sorry you're going through that ride right now :( Time to tap some friends to watch the kiddo so you can get yourself some sleep. There's no shame in asking for help! Your friends would probably like the opportunity to help you through a rough patch. I'd be happy to watch the kiddo some morning for a friend in the same situation.

+1 to asking for some help from friends and family. Don't be ashamed to reach for some help when times get rough. It happens to all of us.

Wow, when it rains it pours. Definitely pulling for your family. You WILL see the other end of this though.

As others have mentioned, sounds like it's time to reach out for a little help. Usually and thankfully, we don't have to go through these things entirely alone.

I know you told me some of this the other night, but the grandfather thing just sucks for everyone around.

I hope things get better and tell the wife things will get better.

Are your parents in the picture? Can you hand kiddo off to them for a couple hours/days?

My parents are almost as far as physically possible while remaining in the continental us. Basically this is just going to be another week of fail for me. I do appreciate the sentiment from everyone though... Means a lot. This is just gonna put off my plans to sell off things to buy a book for another bit.

I'm north of the cities at the family cabin, and swinging through MSP only adds an hour to the trip home. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Yeah... I know it will all blow over. I just get really tired of E36 M3show after E36 M3show. I was able to spend some time at a buddies place not really doing a whole lot, so that helped. I've not seen the wife all day- I'm trying to convince her to come home instead of staying in that depressing environment. I figure a little boy is what she needs.

Drink a Red Bull. That nukes my migraines.

If that doesn't work, there's always trepanation. I've heard that a hole in the skull will let the demons out. Sure sounds like a good idea after a couple days.
