250 hp in a zero-turn mower and the driver perched atop a tractor seat with zero protection? Phhhffft! I fail to see how that could be considered "dangerous."
Kind of reminds me of a certain Zamboni....
I was standing next to (pro driver) Alan McCrispin when they drove it out of the trailer. Other pros (with fear in their eyes) were saying things like, "How is anyone gonna autocross that thing- I ain't drivin' it??".
Alan said, "Anybody got a helmet- I'll drive it??".
I think he was gonna tie himself down with a bungee.
Seems like a great price for a running driving 3800 supercharged motor complete with all ancilaries and an already divorced from car wireing harness and ECU. Also probably could sell that Seat for $25 as an antique, part out the zero turn mower parts for a couple $20's and end up with an ~$300 250hp donor for a Mid engined Challenge car..

One stop shopping perhaps? Great challenge start for $1000 neg..
How is he using the master cylinders for steering? One clutch on each wheel axle? Just operating one brake at a time?

This. Brake-steering on the rear wheels and casters on the front is a common setup, used on many heavy duty sit-down mowers and robots.

Turning brakes, like a dune buggy I am guessing
I'd guess there's a throttle too, and probably an auto shifter. So just like an automatic car except you steer by braking the left or right sides individually instead of turning a wheel.
that's a sweet price for the already stand alone 3800SC drivetrain.
this + $500 fiero = $1000 of winning.
Wonders how hard it would be to hang a mower deck under it...
Fastest grass cutter in the world. Like an autocross with a start and a finish but no blade can be left standing.
I showed this to some friends. One of them has a great idea. Here is his response.
Nix the wheels. Put some tracks on it and a second seat. Now we're talking.
