Kim Rhode just won her 5th straight gold in skeet shooting. Hit 99 out of 100 which is an Olympics record as well! She won her first gold when she was 17.
What does she do in her spare time? She built a Cobra replica with a 427 side oiler. Kim's Cobra
Dana Vollmer of the United States celebrates after winning the gold medal and setting a new world record time of 55.98 seconds in the Women's 100m Butterfly final on Day 2 of the London 2012 Olympic Games .

Knew that, but the Italians would make a better sandwich.
Oh, and there's always THIS. NSFW. From National Lampoon's "That's not Funny, that's sick" album.
"well Don, I'm no ..."

I watched the archery, too. Very interesting. The bows look like engineering masterpieces, and the arrows look too thin.

Indeed. This was the part that impressed me most, though.
"Thus the quest began with the cars. Well, it goes to a Shelby Cobra. So I got a Cobra kit and built it from the ground up." Not just "built" as in screwing together bolts in the sequence listed in the directions. Some stuff had to be machined from raw aluminum, like the entire firewall, which sits nicely polished just aft of the 427 and forward of the transmission. Other parts were created out of whole cloth, too, or whole aluminum, steel or magnesium. Read more: http://www.autoweek.com/article/20120730/carnews/120739997#ixzz227yr9tiw
Oh, for anybody wondering,
First, a stalker stole the gun she had used in the previous four Olympics. It was almost like losing a best friend, but thanks to an anonymous donor, Rhode soon got a new gun. When the first gun -- a MX12 Perazzi Italian shotgun worth $20,000 to $30,000 -- was found, she retired it and used the gift MX2000S Perazzi -- worth about the same. Last year he ran 45.02 for the open 400. This year he's been about a half-second slower. He did not qualify originally for the South African team but they opened a spot for him.
I don't see Oscar making the open 400 final but South Africa has no chance in the 4x400 relay without him. He's one of the top 20 400 meter runners in the world.
Since we're talking 4x400 here, the Belgians suddenly have four really good guys. I will go out on a limb and predict a medal for them.

Oscar is a real inspiration but I find his inclusion to be a bit ironic.
Recently, an IOC poobah was asked if motorsports would ever be included and his response was basically "Never; technology has no place in the Games".
