I HATE spiders.

That is all.

Spiders of Alberta

"There are an estimated 1300 species of spiders in Alberta. The smallest one has a 0.5 mm leg span and the largest one, Tegenaria duellica, the giant house spider introduced from Europe, has at least a 10 cm leg span."

A 10cm leg span seems pretty nasty to me. It's pretty ugly too.

You've got scorpions in southern Alberta too.

All we have in SoFla is 300# wild hogs. And brown recluse spiders, and black widow spiders, and 20' pythons, killer alligators, and..... Enjoy the serenity of the frozen northlands.

I'm not saying I'm the most active outdoorsman ever, and I don't doubt you COULD find them, but you will be hard pressed to find one in your backyard.

As for the Florida comment, don't know what I was thinking

OK, had to revive this thread when I left the house this morning and noticed there were two spiders where there was one by my front porch light, and one of them had landed a cicada in its now very stressed and damaged web. It was eating it while I left. Wish I had a picture-pretty impressive.
