Very well bought especially considering the billions of $ in oil that has been extracted. And as an Alaskan for the past 7+ years, I appreciate how beautiful the land is here though it can be a pain to live here sometimes.
Hilariously, not all Russian politicians are happy with that decision and think we are just renting from them.

I've been to Diomede island, AK where you can see Russia from US soil and it's a reminder how close they are to us. You can see Russia from Alaska just not Wasilla, AK where Sarah Palin lives although she never said she could see it from her house, Tina Fey did. Anyway, seeing F22s flying touch and gos in Anchorage makes me feel a little better about Russia thinking about heading east. We still have lots of Russian speakers in the Aleutian Islands but try to "unify" them back to Russia and they know what will happen.
