Awesome quality there....
And now you see why the current generation Tacoma's are worth so much used..
Because of this problem there are very few of the previous generation available used. Somehow this small tiny issue hasn't swayed public opinion that the Tacoma is the best small truck.
In my search for a small 4x4 pickup to replace my 2wd Ranger, this is why I'm sticking with another Ranger and resisting the urge for a Tacoma. I live in the rust belt, frame issues are common around here. Just can't make em' like a Ford.
I see some really poor lift point positioning. Those rear lift arms are positioned way too far forward (obviously). I still suspect that is a major frame failure, but that tech didn't help the situation.
In reply to Cone_Junky:
Nope, in this case it's frame rust. Toyota did an absolutely massive recall on the Tacoma of this generation for inside-out frame rust. They can break just backing up!

ALL old Toyota trucks are notorious for this. For whatever reason, Toyota was forced to deal with a small segment.
I'm sure my toyota truck would be dead if it lived in the rustbelt as it has started rotting through the A pillar.
I like that they call them tacos because they fold in half, you guys always give me a laugh!
From what I heard the recall paid like 44 hrs or some equally silly number to the tech. What tech in their right mind would waste over a week on some nasty rusted up POFS, that if something broke someone, besides Toyota, is paying for to fix...
I wondered why I saw a trailer load of new frames being delivered to the Toyota dealer up the road... so now I know.

Tanner? Is that you?
This is about four year old news, isn't it? I thought all the affected Toyotas had been fixed or junked long ago.

Nope, they're still working on them. The recall covered that Tundra (T100?) as well. Toyota had to whip up new frames to put under the trucks worth saving. Note that both pics hotlinked here are of trucks in otherwise great condition. It was a design & metallurgy fault that caused the frames to rot from the inside-out. The rest of the trucks can quite literally be, perfect.
That looks EXACTLY like our shop. My Service Manager walked up and said, WHO DID THAT?! I laughed and told him it wasn't our shop.
What is all that bright stuff near the walls? I thought all dealerships were supposed to be dark soul sucking pits...
