Hey Guys I need to buy 4 tires for the winter and I have a long commute to work. I travel 450 miles a week. Has any one purchase a set of Runaway Endoro 916 and if so how many mile were they good for? They are cheap in price.

I think the name says it all. Run away. They don't look like a good all-season tire at all, but then again I haven't tried them first hand.

You can get a good, name brand tire for about 60 bucks apiece. When we did the budget tire test for the august 2008 issue, I was surprised at how good the tires were for the money. I'd recommend the Fuzion HRi (it's really a Bridgestone...) if you need all season capability for cheap.

I'll second the HRi comment. I just sold my Civic with a set of those on it. They performed well on everything from snow & ice, to gravel, even ran an auto-x on them. Seemed to be wearing quite well (as in, not much) too.

As much as I do not like Bridgestone, the Fuzions we put on the Accent do well. Snow, ice, rain.... seem to wear well.

Remember the rule of thumb: You get what you pay for. You buy $40 tires, you get $40 worth of tires.

With a treadwear of 280, I wouldn't expect more than 25k miles of usable life. Add in the terrible tread design for A/S tires, it doesn't look like a smart buy to me.

oh, i was expecting to see some advice like "never try to stop one with a part of your body"

Don't do that either. One dealer I worked at had the tire storage up in the attic of the shop, and we would roll them down the steps. There were many close calls, but I can't remember anyone actually getting hit. It would have hurt, that's for sure.

You would think he would have gotten tired of rolling them up the stairs too

Tough to catch, those runaway tires. Invariably they end up as prostitutes in some sleazy joint on the outskirts of town. When you do get them back, the needle marks are hard to get rid of. The DTs make them vibrate like mad. Several of them have never been able to be balanced properly. They have ended up in a home for broken tires where they commit suicide by simply exploding.

It takes a strong man to control those runaway tires. Good luck.

Sorry, I have nothing constructive to say.

opinion:

if you have a decent car that nobody will buy because it has 4 bald tires, buy them and put "NEW TIRES!!!" in your ad.

otherwise - run far far away.
