Looks like the fbi did something very smart. Waited for them to become complacent and then nabbed the leader of the group when he was going for a talk in another town.

So is that it then? Haven't followed too closely but is that not the ringleaders that are now in custody? I wonder if their car was full of sex toys.
Over? These things are never over.
They are martyrs now, they will be avenged!
(BTW someone sent them a 50 gal drum of sex lube)
The charges sound silly and I bet a good lawyer that someone else will pay for can have them dropped.
They received lots of sex toys, too. Gotta do something while you're there, right?

They were never meant to stick, the fed just wanted an excuse to derail them.
In reply to mndsm: it was tax evasion through mail fraud that brought down all Capone. You never know.
I had been waiting for something to happen on this one. It did seem to be at least intelligent hunting on the government side to do this in the least confrontational manner possible. I still can't help but think of how different this would have played out had the group not been white guys.
Looks like the guy who got shot, got his wish. He told msnbc that he didn't want to spend the rest of his life in a cement box. http://www.rawstory.com/2016/01/lavoy-finicum-the-oregon-militant-beaneath-the-blue-tarp-killed-in-police-shootout-reports/
He also liked to use foster children as his main source of income. Apparently he is all about freedom from the government except when taking its money funneled through a charity.

In reply to jimbob_racing: I'm no expert but sedition fits.

In reply to Fueled by Caffeine:
They also want freedom from government, but want to have their cattle fed for free on land they don't own. Which is also taking from the general public.

Agreed.

You know, I don't see any reason a coffin couldn't be made out of cement...
Edit: Cremation and a cube-shaped cement urn is another option

Wait, where can you get it in 50 gallon drums? Seriously, I need a link.

Amazon, of course. I'm not linking to it though
I'm kinda surprised.... and happy.... I would have thought there were more supporters for these yahoo's....
These guys were terrorist... nothing less.
Most ranchers in the West who rent (!) grazing land from the feds (paying fees to the US Tresury) are good people who are good stewards of the land, but groups like this one give the good ranchers a bad name. However, if some feel they have a valid complaint, they need to think about how to present it in a positive manner. This ain't it.
Before I retired 17 years ago, I worked for one of the federal land management agencies (in mineral management, not ranching). A small group of our local ranchers staged a protest over a proposed minor increase in grazing fees - a nice, peaceful parade past our office, followed by speeches - fine, properly done, except - nearly all drove brand-new crew cab dually pickups, except for the leader, who drove his new Dodge Viper. Would have been a whole lot more effective if they drove their ranch work trucks, most of which are at least 20 years old, rusty, and dented. Presentation makes a lot of difference.
