They are total badasses, for sure. I read that it was a 40 minute operation. Figure they had to kill everyone in the mansion as well.
Oh, and

Oh, and
Osama Bin Laden actually died 14 months ago. It just took his body that long to land after Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked him.
Imagine how great those guys who went in there feel. That has to be the best mission anyone could have dreamed of.
Well done to them and all our troops.

Scares me to death that one of em could have been killed on a mission to drag a corpse back to the base. However, when I remember which corpse it was..I'm sure that it was more than just another objective to them.

Agreed. And that's a "shout-out" to the members on this board who are or were members of their number as well.
At first I must admit I was a little freaked.
I was down in my hometown this weekend, getting ready to leave my parent's place after a mom-home-cooked-meal, when my dad was flipping through the TV channels and was watching CNN. I literally was heading out the door when "Breaking News: President of the USA national address in 10 minutes" with the anchors saying they didn't know whats going on.
I honestly thought that somebody might have dropped a nuke somewhere
Then, it was relief when they said Osama was killed. It must be a great relief to you in the States (as well as ourselves, but Canada wasn't affected nearly as much obviously) to see him gone. While only a figurehead, I'm sure it is a blow for the bad guys

ROFL! But..I'm seeing updates on the story that say the Seals actually did the deed.

US says body will be prepared for burial according to his religion and buried by sundown tomorrow... but where do you bury a POS like that?
News channels are speculating a sea burial ~~~~~ swimmin' w/ the fishes.
Breaking News Osama Bin Laden to Host saturday night live with lady Ga Ga special musical guest . I wan't to see the body and I hear he was in a Hampton Inn with a stolen howard johnsons towel on his head . The CIA had footage of him stealing the towels .

We eventually had to catch up with him. Which ever president was going to be up when he got caught was going to get a great present.
Pics like that, to me, are a kick in the shin to the people who risked there lives getting the info and carrying out the operation.
And they say now he was dumped in the sea. Good, only proper place is getting eaten by the other bottom feeders of the world.

Because of that, I heard it took even longer for him to land
This won't get Obama re-elected. I don't think anyone in the U.S. cares anymore. The terrorists will continue doing what they do and the simple fact that he was on the run for this long, from the mightiest nation to ever exist makes us look silly. Now, if this would have happened within the first 6-8 months of the "War on Today's Topic" it would have been huge.

This. I'm glad the son of a bitch is dead. It won't bring anyone back etc, but you know what? Maybe now the Palestinians who danced in the streets at the news of the Towers falling will see us celebrating the death of this bastard and know how it feels.
My thanks to the SEALs who did the deed and all those who did their part to help bring him to justice.

I heard that too, and thought it sounded fishy.....part of a cover up or something. Then I heard a BBC reporter say that if the body were anywhere on land, the grave site would become a site that was venerated by muslim extremists, and that we were trying to avoid this.
Seems semi-plausible.

I know in the great scheme of things it really means nothing, but there is a little part of me that feels a bit better. I just wish that rather than being buried at sea he was hung like a pinata somewhere for a few days.
WTF Pakistan?
CNN Article "The founder and leader of al Qaeda was killed by U.S. forces Monday in a mansion in Abbottabad, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) north of the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, U.S. officials said. "
Is Pakistan's intelligence service blind?

I'd have to say that this guy was my exception to this quote. Having seen the attacks first hand from a few blocks away, this is a step in the right direction IMHO.
My thoughts go out to the families of the victims of terrorism, as well as the members of our military who put their lives on the line every day. Many have died defending our freedoms, and on a day like this it's important to remember their sacrifices.
