Has anyone pulled up the pics on time.com or anything?

"So know one noticed a three-story, 1 acre compound with 12 foot walls, surrounded by pasture on all sides, in THIS neighborhood?"

Of course he was being shielded.

Nice to know it was being done by those in a nuclear armed military with which we give aid.

This isn't from the OBL assault; it's from the pilot airing of The Paul Reiser Show.

That can't be true, no one's crying.

There are a bunch of fake photos floating around at this point, I've seen a couple myself. I would be surprised if anyone was leaking actual photos this soon.

I agree... however, the British PM had a more pragmatic view of the situation, bascially stating the alternative in Pakistan has too much potential to be much worse.

I don't envy the Pakistani govt's position. They have to walk a very fine line to keep as many people outside and inside their borders as happy as possible.

This same pragmatism was applied to Iraq and potential wmd's. That didn't work out as anticipated and it allowed a lot of people to take cheap political shots.

The costs of Pak nukes getting into the hands of Islamic jihadists would be far more expensive than the costs of the "aid" we give them. It's in the US' (and the world's) best interests to continue asserting our influence.

In the mean time, it's kinda fun to see the Pakistani's exhibit their faux anger because the US shoved a truck-load of eggs in their faces.

I guess what worries me is that we funnel money to the same gov't that was helping him, or at least some element inside the gov't was helping him avoid raids.

So what's to say those same people don't end up in charge of the nukes? Or tell the Al Qaida foot soldiers where they are to be found/security surrounding them etc.

Just doesn't seem like a good way around it at any pass. That's the most disheartening.

The Pakistanis are pissed that we did this without notifying them and hopes it does not set a precedent for future raids. Wait, aren't we on the same side? And if we did notify them, would this have happened?

Exactly. I imagine there was some discussion over there with the end result with them saying, "we aren't going to protect you anymore..." But now they have to put on a brave face towards the home front. Considering this would be similar to the KGB executing a raid in D.C. to take out some mob boss who pissed (failed to pay) off Putin... Rather embarrassing.

No offense intended, Ian.

I was trying to illustrate that the alternatives can be far worse than a really bad after-taste once the bite is taken. Iraq is an example - regardless of the follies thrown against the walls afterward.

AND, Hillary was involved, AGAIN!!! And in the same war room? It's a conspiracy, I tell ya.

Of course, on the other side, this time they sent the SEALs in and told them to just kill the MF'er, unlike the Davidian compound where Hill said kill them, but make it look like a really, really bad case of suicide.
