We've been in our house for nearly four years, and I'm finally getting to the things I said I was going to do as soon as we moved in...
So here's some background on my house: The original owners moved in January of 1960. It was their dream home and they spared no expense in building it.
So I have this oven, that would have been a huge hit at CES 1959... Its a double wall oven, and its not even a crazy color. Inside the main oven, its all stainless, has a rotisserie contraption with the (still working) motor in the back of the oven and even a temperature probe for those big hunks of meat. It even has a timer feature where it can turn on a a certain time and run. Bottom line, I think its cool enough to fix.
So what is wrong is that the thermostat for the upper oven is bad. We've been living with just the lower oven since we moved in, and without the cool features.
I had a friend come over tonight who helped me diagnose the problem being the thermostat. I've searched google for a few hours trying to find the part with no luck, presumably because its old enough that its never been cataloged online. So does anyone have a good source for vintage appliance parts? Or perhaps an old Tappan in the garage/basement that they would want to part out?
So here are the details for anyone that made it this far: 1959 Tappan EOKNR-630-L3. Serial number K132402.
The thermostat had the following on it: Tappan part #03-201-9 Spec #1010-5 Catalog #B276KCL-B 25A 120V-240V AC
If you have such a part, I'll buy it or trade Saab 9-5 parts
