My wife's pink Vaio has been overheating. It's been sort of intermittent. It sounds like the fan is still running, but it gets very hot and just shots down. Any attempts to turn it back on right away result in it turning right back off. It wasn't part of the recalls for other Vaio's. She even bought a little under fan tray thing, but it still over heats somethings. Perhaps it needs a new fan and/or heatsink?

+1 - pull it apart and clean everything up, perhaps some new Arctic Silver on the heat sink to processor interface. Helped my old Compaq tremendously.

+2 We have a Acer I have to clean regularly. It seem to suck up more dust than the rest of them.

yes.. laptops seem prone to clogging due to their smaller air intakes and cooling systems
