I think he meant when the other Jaeger blew the nuke that was supposed to be dropped into the Rift to try and take out the two remaining Kaiju. I didn't think they'd climbed out, just that they'd backed up a bit. And yeah, the blast should totally have destroyed GD- that big of a nuke and they'd at least have been irradiated all to hell, shielding be damned.
What got me was wonder why once they realized they couldn't release the bomb from the Jaeger that they decided to just blow it up OUTSIDE the rift instead of tackling one of the Kaiju into the rift and THEN detonating it- if you're going to blow yourself up and sacrifice yourself heroically, why not do it and ACCOMPISH YOUR MISSION instead of just clearing the way for someone else to TRY and accomplish it?
But then, as I believe I mentioned earlier, these are the same people that decided that stationing Jaegers along the coasts that might be attacked was smarter than putting them ALL near the rift where you KNOW that the Kaiju will be coming from and intercepting and destroying them there (along with several dozen- or hundred- fixed plasma cannon placements to blast the &$(#@ out of them as soon as one pops out). So I can't say I'm wholly surprised. 
I just suck at typing most times. But hey. I still though it was a cool movie though. I think there was talk of making a robotech movie live action....it wss teied up in limbo I think lastbi heard.
