I would hate to be profiled as one of the F&F crowd, but I like the gesture. Maybe the track toy will get one.

Is the FF crowd really the FF crowd anymore? Remember, the people that were BARELY 16 when FF1 came out now are 28-29. Hell, I'm about to change demographics from where I was then to where I am now.

This is true. Seems like the street racing scene in my neck of the woods is nearly dead too. It's more of a B movie cult reference now.

Saying that, I watched F&F 6 yesterday. It was as awful as I expected, yet I'll watch the next just like I watched the rest.

I'll do a marathon of them just for the hell of it. I did enjoy 1 and TD.

Yeah, street racing is EXCEEDINGLY rare these days around here. You might run into the occasional highway pull, or maybe a couple cars squaring off at a light, but the days of the 500 car illegal meets are gone, at least locally.

I loved FF. Had a subscription to Sport Compact Car. Bought Super Street at the bookstore. I'm 38. The young guys I autocross with don't quite understand the same way those of us between about 30 and 40 do.

Yup, me too. I'm 34 and fall into that category. I was into the street racing gayness when F&F1 came out. Sport Compact Car and Saturday night car meets before racing. I miss it but I'm glad im not an idiot anymore.

Yeah, there were runs everywhere, that was just our local one. Some friends of mine organized it. I woulda gone, but it was just too risky to do it with my kid.

Usually on Sundays and some Mondays a bunch of Cobalts will make a pass on me. Got some on video last time. On Sundays, up to hundreds of guys may fill up the industrial area and stunt or drag. Last time I was there, it was to pick up my sister-in-law. She got into something that she didn't realize. We decided to pick her up. It wasn't too good when I showed up in a P71 with antennas all over it. A bunch ran. When I stopped, the Ford crowd circled me to make sure no one berkeleyed with the car. They simply wanted a burnout on the exit in exchange.

Also, yeah, sideshows still exist in larger urban areas (St. Louis, Compton, etc) but they don't really happen down here.

Agreed...33 here and in the same boat.

I wasn't really into cars or knowledgeable before that movie. It sparked an interest though, and thankfully I started autocrossing and didn't go down the river rabbit hole.

I still remember seeing it in the theater when I was in high school.

That's just it. B movie, street racing abomination, whatever you want to call it- that movie (more than any other I can think of) had a PROFOUND effect on young males and the car culture. It was the first time imports/sport compacts became viable. Sure, people knew what WRX's and Evos and Skylines were because of GT, but this setup made it real for everyone. I don't know how many people I had quote the movie to me in some format in reference to their car- IE I got a NAWSSS bottle. Sure they were lying, but at least they were interested. And now, the movie is a lot like RHPS (Rocky Horror Picture Show) where it was HORRIBLE on release, widely panned, and has such a great cult following it's hard not to like it, even if it is total garbage.

I'm not gonna lie, I bought my DSM because of that movie. Granted, it started with the green one- and I was actually looking for an Integra GSR at the time (the one time I almost bought a Honda) but what it did for me was sparked an interest in small car going big car fast. I started reading, and didn't stop. Here I am 12 years later.... and the biggest car I've ever owned was an XJ I owned for a summer and never drove. Sure it's fake, and sure it spawned a whole generation of APC winged 19sec cars... but as the old starfish proverb goes "I just made a difference to that one". Some of us got through.

I think that first movie lead to my position as sport compact and performance specialist at a local auto accessories store. I also took any of my friends to see it that would go. Think I saw it 5 times in the theatre.

My insurance agent once said to me, "everything was just fine until that movie came out".

My son is 25 now, but when the first one came out he was 13, and could hardly wait to see it in the theater. I took him and his buddy and it was the best thing he'd ever seen. He talked about it for days.

The only modified vehicle I've ever owned is my E150 and it's far more redneck/homeless person's home than it is ricey. I guess that would make my 100% stock rx8 the ricey-est.

Also the first movie hit when I was pre-driving and I loved it. Not so much the rest, and I guess I never did put any rice parts on my old jetta despite it being the same age and color as the one from the first movie. I was more distracted by it not running in wet conditions and dying whenever it got too cold. Besides I was a little more into rally but I'd be lying if I said I didn't try my hardest to wear out my DVD of that movie.

Also I never knew PW was such an awesome person. I would assume he wouldn't have wanted it all over the news anyway though...

Mine too. I have a big collection of them. If it hadn't been for that mag, I probably never would have found GRM.
