That's awesome, beside the kid is showing clearly that he thinks no one will do any thing about his shiny actions. Perhaps next time he will think twice?

That's a few miles from where I work. In fact I test drive cars and drive under a pedestrian bridge where that most likely happened. I feel guilty for thinking he deserved it.

Replace crossbow with gun and the attitudes would be a little different I think.

No the kid shouldn't have been throwing rocks but attempted murder isn't an acceptable response.

Nope. The more people who get killed or maimed doing something stupid, the less likely other stupid people are to do the same thing.

Considering people have had fatal accidents because of people throwing rocks at their car, I'd say attempted murder for attempted murder works out pretty well.

I think shooting the kid would have resulted in DrBlade approved murder charges. Getting hit with a crossbow bolt is very memorable, not necessarily fatal and will result in social embarrassment.

Was the RAV4 an infidel?

We have had several drivers killed here by people throwing rocks from bridges. I think a crossbow bolt is fair game.

Killing the kid is waaay wrong. But from what you guys are saying, the weapon of choice was not lethal. I'm behind it 100%. I guarantee this little E36M3 won't do THAT again. In fact, I venture to say, none of the kids in his immediate circle of friends won't either.
I'd like to buy the shooter a beer.

This reminds of that (American?) kid in Singapore that got caned for spray painting graffiti on cars. I wonder if that little berkeleyer ever went near a can of spray paint again.

The article doesn't state if it is one of those little 30 dollar discount store devices or a 300+ feet per second hunting weapon designed to take down deer and elk.

I have seen what happens to a large nutria when hit with a bolt from a 200 dollar walmart crossbow. That is certainly a lethal blow.

Lets say it was a 3 inch dart 100lb "toy". Comparing wound severity how would this conversation go if the person jumped out of the Rav4, stabbed the kid in the gut with a decent sized pocket knife, hopped back into the car and drove away? That would certainly be crossing a line right?

I'm not going to disagree with what happened without knowing the whole story. If it was someone standing next to a 25 mph street throwing pebbles that's one thing, but dropping a big rock from an overpass or bridge can be fatal so I have no problem with a forceful response. That said, I do not think I would ever carry a weapon in a vehicle with me (for unrelated reasons), but if other people ant to do things like that I wouldnt complain.

That reminds me of a bumper sticker I once saw:

If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?

We have had people killed by rocks and bricks being thrown off an overpass, same area I believe.

It was certainly wrong and unsafe to shoot the kid with a crossbow. Anybody who carries a loaded crossbow in a car is probably a world class shiny happy person too.

BUT- I still have to chuckle at the quick return of karma. But karma is not supposed to be dealt out by the person who was initially wronged. But it already happened, so we may all enjoy the justice (wrong or not).

I don't know about paint cans, but ISRC that he got in trouble back in the US.

Not. If it was a manual, the lack of true OD would have caused yet another Cat to melt, tripping the CEL. That glowing orange bulb would have distracted the shooter enough that his shot would have gone wide. So it was definately an automatic.

Now that I find out there was another boy throwing rocks I am disappointed the archer did not shoot them both with only one arrow.

He was busted for marijuana possession, but the charges were dropped on a technicality. Wiki article

If I was a kid throwing rocks, Rav4, easy target. May have a cup of starbucks. Seriously, there was a woman killed in Cleveland, maybe 20 years ago by a thrown rock. (Rt 77 at Fleet Av). Rock went thru windshield at 60 + mph and struck her in the abdomen. They caught the guy iirc. Put up fences on overpasses.
