Does your version of Webroot have a firewall component? If so, it sounds like you need to add an exception. (Aside: I'd dump Webroot and install Avast or MSE instead.)

There's no such thing as Windows 9. Do you mean Windows 8?

I don't know the exact steps for adding an exception, but this should get you started: https://detail.webrootanywhere.com/agenthelp.asp?n=Controlling_active_processes

If it gives you too much of a headache, uninstall Webroot and go with one of the others I suggested. I was promoted to run a small IT department a while back. One of my first official acts was to dump Webroot and replace it with AVG. It was a piece of crap, regularly getting caught in endless scan loops.

You are correct windows 8. I uninstalled webroot, but still my xbox will not connect. I don't remember how I got it to work originally.

From an IT standpoint, I despise webroot, it works too well at blocking traffic. As in all of it.

Free.avg.com is a great alternative as well at a very grassroots price.

Find the settings for firewall. Turn firewall off. Retry.

the computer did not come with any back up cds so I don't want to erase the whole deal and be left with a paper weight.
