My buddy, who I thought knew better, once told me that adding a K&N intake to his Civic resulted in more power, which then resulted in lower operating RPM on the freeway. What do you say to that, when the guy is not some ignorant, oblivianoris?

I happen to know first hand that on Honda's the screws are used on the assembly line solely to hold the rotor in place before the caliper is installed. No other reason to have them.

I remember reading a similar post on a Honda web board back in the day. lol
I've said this before--whenever someone at an auto parts store would say about mu 99 Civic Si--"yo my boy has one of those and he put this chip in it and it gave it another 30hp!!!" Not worth telling him it didn't.

Just explain it to him--speed is directly related to RPM* which has nothing to do with power (other than that more power can get you to a higher RPM or else get you to an RPM faster). I actually had a slightly similar misconception a while back, this board corrected it for me
*Okay, so it is indirectly related--tire/wheel diameter and transmission/gearing get in there first, but it is still a direct lineage. In the same gear with the same size tires, 4000RPM will always give you the same speed. Loose torque converters need not apply.

This. I've never EVER replaced those berkeleyers once i've gotten them out with an impact screwdriver. Never had a problem.
My Escort didn't have them at all when i bought it. Never had a problem.
Here's the other one. My neighbor bought the new Camaro V6 and automatic used with 30,000 miles on it.
He was telling a group of us it is 300+hp. He then added an air intake for 30hp and bought a $50 chip that adds 70hp. He said they sell this chip for every car and there was a $75 chip that gave higher horsepower but he saw no need to get too crazy.
I had no energy to question these magic chips......I did mention something about crankshaft HP versus rear tire HP and quickly saw the glazed look and that I should shut my mouth.
Oh I gained 50 HP on my ZX2SR with add ons. Odd, it didn't reduce my rpm;s on the road thougth.
Now, you know anyone who wants to buy a bridge,

I eat peanuts every day for a snack. On the side of the container:
Total Fat: 14g Saturated Fat: 2g Trans Fat: 0g Poly-whatever Fat: 4.5g Mono-something Fat: 7g
Nope, no fat whatsoever. ;-)
Woman to me: "What's this?"
Me: "Vietnam War flak jacket."
Woman: "Can I return it if it doesn't work?"
Me: Facepalm.
Needless to say, I won't sell anything to her anymore. Its better to say nothing and metaphorically walk away.
In reply to Derick Freese:
I sell those too. Nothing happens when you pull the pin.
Actually, the crazy bitch was tazing herself and wanted a way to stop the shock. Unfortunately she was using 950,000 volt tazers that I will no longer sell her.

Silly Camaro owners. If you want to see more of that type of blatant stupidity, head on over to Camaro5.com.

Sounds like maybe something you should sell her.

We need that little smiley that has the question marks floating over its head.
If she stopped tazering herself that would stop the shocks too, but maybe that was too obvious for her.
I pulled into the NAPA parking lot one Saturday when i was driving for them, saw some guy rocking his van back and forth. I said hello, he just smiled.
Go inside and the guys behind the counter are in stitches. The customer added some kind of save-the-baby to his gas tank and they told him to make sure it's nixed well in the tank.
Yep, shake your head.

You say "Kewl" while smiling and nodding your head. Then "Beer?"
I get some doozies at work (home depot tool rental).
Like the person who asked if our generators were gas or electric...
Or the person who rented a pneumatic flooring nailer and it took them 8 hours to call me and ask why it wasn't working. I asked them what the regulator pressure was on the compressor. "Compressor?" they asked quizzically.
I had a guy who couldn't get our pressure washer to work. He had hooked up his garden hose and put the other end in a bucket of water.

That's probably very close to what I DID say.
