Ironic, I know 
Have you ever been on a forum, everything is going just fine, then some guy joins who is such a post whore that he clogs every thread with his (usually) nonsensical posts, BS, or just plain know it all attitude?It's happened on a few forums and out of frustration I just stopped going.
There's a big bike forum I started posting on again after a 10 year absence. It's not a great forum but it's big enough that there's usually something interesting but recently a new guy appeared and went from zero to 1400 posts in a really short time. It's gotten to the point that if I see his (super annoying) avatar I won't even read the thread and close the forum.
OK Rant over.

I've been accused of being that guy more than once.
I wouldn’t know…GRM is the only forum I follow.
In terms of interests, wrenching on cars comes in below math, physics, astronomy, and a few other ecliptic things but I’ve never found a forum for those subjects that wasn’t just an exercise in frustration.

Too many of us on this forum for to single anyone out.
I got banned from MCM for being part of a group of those guys once. I was younger and dumber at the time.

I think I hold the record for single biggest ban around here- in my previous life I owned and was very deeply involved in a mazda forum. One of my...less savory habits was wreaking havoc over on a few others when they started in with the stupid tech E36 M3 that made no sense. I chased around about a half dozen of their more...respected members for a solid couple days before they nuked my account, everyone associated with MN mazda, anyone that had ever touched an IP I was on at home (and since it was a whole complex line, there was several rotating IP's, my number had it somewhere north of 200) and last but not least, the entirety of United Heath Care. That worked out to like....80k people that got banned from one of the mazda forums, at the same time. Most of them didn't know it, but I regret nothing. I've tried to be more agreeable since then.
Look to see if there is an ignore feature. I utilize that on a few boards I frequent. The facebook groups are the worst. Sometimes I want to light somebody up for being awful and then I realize my picture and general location are on there so ya know, the guy is probably a serial killer too in addition to being a jerk and it's not worth doing.

Ok you win. It was only like 5 of us. When I got banned.
My ban did involve "The Volvo Text File" though. Some of us would decide a thread was getting pointless and start spamming hot linked pictures of Volvos. One of us had a file he saved that he would jusg copy/paste.
It was close to 100 volvo pictures if I remember right.
Turns out Marty hated Volvos at the time. He posted a thread telling us to stop....and I posted a Volvo Amazon wagon in that thread.

Guys. The V12 discussions can be a little old and some of the horse corpses are routinely exhumed for another beating, but a ruined forum it does not make.
IMO, the gross overreaction to it is equally annoying.

I made several friends in my learn me florida thread a number of years ago. Come to think of it- two of my favorites are no longer around, either by ban or otherwise. Maybe I wasn't that guy? Who knows. Ima keep doing me.

I was kicked out of a local model car forum for correcting someone about a picture of a stock car. I pointed out that since I was in said picture working on said car my information may be correct but I was no match for the rivet counting superfans.
