There have been some pretty good political discussions on this board. You just need to be sure its not about American politics. I could probably start a thread about yesterdays Canadian election, and we could have an interesting time slagging Quebec.
I so want to play the slagging Quebec game-- my customer for work is in Montreal.
What I've learned about the Quebecois is that they are a very proud people. And what is it that they are proudest of? That they are a very proud people.

Lol. Gear snobs are funny.
IMHO, if it's something like an AxeFX modeling amp, the whole comparison loses validity as to me those amps seem to make every guitar sound the same.
Not sure I'd agree with that. There are so many pros who use Fractal's now that don't sound similar.
I think it's interesting how Meshuggah records their guitar parts. After they've written the part, they play directly in their recording software with no amps or effects or anything, and then use the Fractal to tweak it. So they don't have to use multiple takes, with multiple amps, etc, to get the sound they want for a particular song.
That's not what I said. The Fractal can definitely create a nearly infinite variety of sounds. What I mean is that is the sound - switching guitars doesn't seem to make a lot of difference or the tonal difference gets severely subdued. I've listened to players using a Fractal unplug a Les Paul and plug in a Strat and the tone barely changes.
What Meshuggah does is known as "re-amping'" and has been a studio technique for decades.

If you take "you needed to spend thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars to sound like Santana" and replace "dollars" with "hours", it would seem more believable.
But that's a lot of work!
I see this thread has gone off the rails...

I commented on guitars and I don't even play.
This thread isn't in the same ballpark, it's not even the same sport.

This explains so many things to me about Meshuggah, all the while making me realize why it's great to be here.
I think it's actually the people who make canoes that ruin not only forums, but the whole internet sometimes. We're lucky here to have good moderators that keep this place tidy.

Both blues and country were generally styles of music played by folks who tended to be on the poorer spectrum of society. Hence why they sounded so damn...genuine. Apparently, even an amplifier that costs 1/3 as much as my house can't replicate that sound.
True and.....dumbles have been known to go for 150k. Holy berkeleying berkeley berkeleys, is that stupid money for an amp.

Haha. It's James Dolan. He owns the Knicks and Madison Square Garden. So he can buy not only good gear, but a whole band! And opens for the Eagles..who happened to be playing MSG. A real Blues Man

Sounds like something I don't want to listen to lol
This thread was more fun when we were busting frenchys balls and not talking amps.

Why does it always have to be about frenchy?
Leave frenchy alone. He's OK, he likes Jags.
And get off my lawn.
And where is the berkeleying list of banned words and what they get auto corrected to?
Or do I just need to paste in the Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television?

Post the inspirational speech from Team America: World Police.
Actually, don't. Some of it doesn't get filtered.

Because frenchy frequently makes it about frenchy. That's his MO.

You should read Speed-Talk... therr are some guys there who always devolve into modern engines are E36 M3 because you can't fix them on the side of the road with a dime, and all this EFI and roller cam BS is because of the government forcing converters down our throats, etc. Chevy should have made a one year only LS with the modern heads on the old block for reasons. Basically a lot of yelling at clouds.
Some of them have been banned, actually, like the guy who would E36 M3 up everu thread involving forced induction, computerized anything, or wideband sensors.

There was a guy on here who was a member for a very short time, not sure if he got banned or just got bored and scooted off, but I know his extremely abrasive personality wore on a lot of people, as well as the fact that he somehow bypassed the filter, so all of his posts were uncensored. Even worse, I know this guy in person and he's just as difficult to deal with.
