How do y'all deal with phone/text scammers?

We get 15-20 calls a day at work, always on a secondary line. Usually we ignore it but I've tried asking IT if they can be blocked, I've told the scammers to put us on their don't-call list. They just keep at it.

Then there's the inevitable messages any time I post a classified listing. Usually pretty easy to see through, but still annoying.

Lately, I've been taking two approaches depending on my mood.
1- play along then start making romantic advances,

2- ask if they have an application they can send me and if there's any openings at the call center.

Curious how y'all deal with the issue

Hang up.  If it's the third call, or more, on a day, I usually curse as I'm hanging up.

For me, it's no scammers.  It's point of sale supplies, improve your google listings, credit card discount stuff.  At least with scammers, the invitation to non consentual  sex can be fun.

If you REALLY want to be put on their real-world don't-call list, waste their time. Seem like you're going along with the call for a good few minutes and then make it clear you're wasting their time at the end. Every time I do that it takes a chunk out of incoming scam calls on that line, but they will return after a few months. If you want to get serious about it you can set up a way to forward them to a Lenny number/system.

Getting one know.

I am know as Adam West to them.

From Lebanon ME 04027, if you want to be Adam too.

Wish they would stop but they don't so I make it a game to see how long I can keep them on the line.

Todays adventures, US Health care scam has called 3 times (so far and its not even 11 am), I tell them I need help, I think I am having a heart attack.

Immediate click from there end, guess they are uncomfortable listening to some on die, but are unwilling to help, like stating call 911....

I had one yesterday. I got through to the "senior supervisor" who went by David. Asked if I could come by the office and meet all the nice people who had been so helpful. David laughed and said yes, then hung up.

That may be why I didn't get too many "We'd like to reach you about your car's extended warranty" calls after I asked them to quote me for the '66 Dart. Which was in pieces at the time. I wanted to know if they'd warranty my own assembly work. And the fact that it had a homemade turbo kit.

Unfortunately I can't seem to get an Android phone to reliably record calls.

If I don't recognize the number on the caller ID I don't pick up.  I normally get multiple calls daily but for some reason they suddenly dropped to zero about 3 weeks ago.  I don't expect that to last, they will be back sooner or later.

You'll need to log in to post.
