Was beamonaning the fact that all of the Molvo pictures that are stored on Photobucket were irretrievably lost to me: I have not signed in in years and the e-mail has changed. Was comforted by the fact that the images were secure in the build threads I had created.
Then the Photobucket bomb hit and the thread pictures dispeared. Not like I can go in and get them from Phtobucket either.
Then this happened on another site: I looked at the first page and the picture was there. When I went to page two there were no pictures so I hit refresh on the screen. This happened:
Text with the hated Photobucket message
Hit refresh and this: Same text but the picture shows up
This worked consistently so that I could pull all of the images off and store them on my computer. Always required a refresh, but worked every time.
When I tried the same thing here, it does NOT work.
Any of you digital Wonks in the hive have any idea what is going on and if this offers an opportunity to work around the block?
Your computer is probably using local cookies stored on your device to add the images in. I would hazard a guess that if you cleared your cookies that this trick doe not work afterward. Just a guess though.
Also, you should be able to access your account even if you don't have the e-mail that you did when you created the account. Linky. Fill in the fields for "I don't have access to the e-mail that I signed up with" and hopefully you can get your albums more easily. I had to do this for one of my accounts and it worked for me. Fortunately I did not have many previous e-mail address that it could have been tied to. Good luck!

Try the cookie thing. It is possible to exchange cookies on an image download:

Uhhnnnn....yeah...Parlez vous Analog?
Just clear your cookies, or use a private browsing session and see if the behavior is the same. Here's how to clear cookies:

Not going to clear cookies because it seems to allow me to see images on retro-rides. As mentioned, trick does not work on this board.
Would it be possible to transfer a cookie say from someone who had third party hosting account to someone who did not, and hack around the blockage that way?

Unlikely. Most sites have more sophisticated security than that. Twitter actually didn't for the first few years of its operation, though.
You can try a private browsing session rather than clearing cookies.

Found my answer sorta... the RR operator is a digital Ninja
Small update on this, I maaaaaay have found a way to do some clever stuff so that we may get our photobucket pictures displaying again. It is probably easily defeatable if PB decide to go after it, but we'll see. Got a bit more to write on it, but I'm hoping it will work. Then I'll get back on our own image gallery stuff (once I've decided how I want to do the Database ;) )
He probably set up something like this on the forum server to automatically substitute images in posts. If you right-click and view image info on one of the "magically visible" Photobucket pictures, what's the URL?
I've seen this happen on another forum, and it happened before they dropped the bomb.
He did an awesome job bypassing the block, all of my pictures came back up over there. Funny stuff.
It looks like my pictures are still showing up here. I tried a different computer and they show on that one also. I have the minimal pay package, just enough to not see ads.
