Very nice. I had a 72 Firebird and now have a 78 Trans Am. Really like the 2nd gens.

I agree with you. There was an article about towing a while ago, but I don't remember if securing the car was covered.
I have towed quite a few horse trailers and boats, so I understand a fair bit about managing the truck and trailer aspects, but securing the load is an important thing too.
All of the car trailers I've used have been rented, and had tire straps. Is that the only way to do it safely, especially on an open trailer?
In reply to Floating Doc :
I've always used chains around a solid part of the frame or an axle if we have one to work with and a dog to tighten them. Nothing has come off the trailer yet but straps through the wheels or those harnesses around the tires seems like less work and also more secure. Most vehicles I've hauled have wheels while finding a solid place with enough room can pretty annoying and usually requires climbing pretty far under the car.
The only car I've ever sold and then missed. And there have been over 100.
1970 Torino Sportsroof. 351C M-code. Bench seat. Original paint and everything else....
Remembered this thread and decided to bump it. Here's me on the way home with the wagon. Stopped at a rest stop near Shepherdsville, Ky.
1972 Datsun 240Z with title - $300. Biggest pile of rust - classic paper stuffed into rust cavities and bondo applied over it. I sold most parts on ebay - $1,500 gross dollars.
Today it would've brought high dollars but the guy that sold it to me was glad to get the $300.
I sold my open trailer to Stampie so I would drag less stuff home, now when I really want something i just pay these guys
