i didn't take these, so bear with the fact that they are not of the things a car guy would take pictures of, like the garage or the mechanicals.
from the backyard:
the back corner - the sunroom area is getting converted to real living area with alside vinyl windows with low e glass and a new door. i'm doing the new door and window next to it tomorrow because i have them and when i have spare cash i'll order the rest of the windows.
the kitchen - screaming for a remodel but i'll put up with it for a couple years
the living room - 14x30 with a sweet fireplace
the blessed virgin to watch over the house while i'm gone
jake in the bathtub
and finally jake pulling old knob and tube wiring out of the walls
we've had the keys since wednesday. i've already ripped out the front entryway which was a cobbled mess of 3 small closets and a too narrow 30" front door. now it's an open entrance with a 36" fiberglass door and 1 large closet. my dad and i have put in a new main panel and rewired the entire house top to bottom. i've pulled/run over 600 feet of romex so far, just need to get a GFCI outlet into the bathroom and rewire the light/fan in there.
it's a good solid old house, the old guy that owned it took great care of things before he passed away, and his wife passed in november. they raised 7 kids there, and we've met 2 of them who are very happy that we got the house. apparently they refused the first 2 offers not based on the $ but based on the people making the offer.
i'll be taking garage pics soon, probably start moving things over there thursday.

Conrats! Agree about the kitchen... not so much for the decor, but the layout looks like it could definitely use improvement...
Ain't wiring fun? I have to do a bit of that in my house... although I have to cut open walls... not looking forward to that...
Good luck... How big is the garage?
Congratulations! Sweet kitchen, looks just like mine!

Neat- how undesirable were the previous two folks to offer if a GRMer looked like a winner?
Kidding. Looks like a cool place- plenty of character. I spy a detached garage/shed/shop, which is crucial and awesome.

Congrats.
It looks like a solid beginning to whatever you want to make of it. Also looks like plenty of property.
I see the garage has a a rear exit as well.
How is your bedroom to garage ratio?
3 bed, 4 car garage?
PS: Jake looks like a cool dude.

I like that alot, reminds me of my house except you have more of a back yard. Looks great for backyard gatherings...or to park cars.
We spent a solid month sanding/painting/ripping up carpet/new electric/water heater etc. I enjoyed that alot.
Good luck,
John

My first house I bought directly off the owner and he too had that feeling that he wanted the house to go to the right young couple that will take care of the house for a long time.
I think a realtor can get into trouble doing this. i will have to scan the old Archie Bunker reruns.......
garage measures 26' wide by 32' deep on the inside. plenty of room for tools and 2 projects. we're already planning to add onto the back to make plenty of room for tools, 2 projects, and 2 running toys. fortunately my dad's barn fits 3 cars comfortably and he said 2 of mine can be there every winter, and my cousin said her 2nd garage spot is mine every winter so i'm covered with the 5 toys.
2 bedrooms, kitchen/dining room, living room, office, bathroom, and partial basement.
we finished up the wiring today. tomorrow is new back door and the 2 windows next to it in the pics are being replaced with one 2 lite slider. the new door is a fiberglass 36" full view w/ internal blinds and low e glass. window/door are from jobs, the door had one little split by the mortise for the deadbolt that just needed a little wood glue and they sent us a new one for the customer, and the window is a mismeasure that's been in the barn for 3 years and it's the perfect size. it helps being a remodeling contractor and having the back room of my store be full of stuff i've been collecting for when i bought my own house.

I like it. I like the Blessed Virgin too, reminds me of my grandmothers house :)
Nice! Garage pictures are needed badly...
garage pics.
more stuff is in there now and more stuff that does not belong is gone. the 40 pickup project is in there. the belair should be coming out of storage tonight. the turbo grand prix may move outside for a while once i get it rolling and i'll just work on it out in the sun. i gather i'll do most wrenching out on the nice level pad in front of the garage as opposed to inside it, especially stuff that causes fires like welding or dust like grinding.
we're making a big trailer run tomorrow to get most of the rest of the garage.
SWEET! Look at all that room in there!

I am so jealous. Your garage is damn close to the size of my house! But, I have a one car carport. WooHoo. Old wiring can be a thrill, but the last house I had in Ohio before the move to SoFla had aluminum wiring. (Built in 1974) Every bit of that had to be pulled out and replaced with copper. Glad I was gone before that came out.
So when are you making the paint booth? It's been a long time since my Camaro was in Ohio.
no room for a paint booth until i make it bigger.
the 40 pickup and the 54 belair are also in the garage now, plenty of room for 3 cars across the front with room to spare. when the weather gets good i'm tearing the truck down to grind/finish weld/paint the frame and do bodywork for the final assembly. i decided to not go so ratty since everyone is trying to make stuff look like they just pulled it off a farm even though this is true for this truck.
maybe in a couple weeks i can get the vette out and over here.
Your story is one reason why Realtors try very hard to keep prospective buyers from meeting sellers. Glad it worked out to your benefit!
I agree about the kitchen--I think it's kind of charming, but layout-wise that door has to go, for one. And think how nice those groovy pine cabinets will look in your garage once you do remodel.

Romex? Real men use conduit and THHN.
