So I got the powder coating setup and had to coat stuff (yes, it comes off your hootus much easier than spray foam). Powder coating is supposed to be much more durable than paint and I realized my sons Hotwheels cars are all chipped to death because he actually plays with them. What better test bed!?!?
Sorry, no before picture, but it's a silver car Crossfire. I chose that car because the body has LOTS of detail and I wanted to see how much detail I'd lose from the coat.
So, I drilled the smashed metal-rivet type thing to get the thing apart.
Once apart I stripped the paint off.
Then I coated it with what will be gloss black.
Then I baked it at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes. After just 10 minutes it was cool to the touch and looked pretty dang good.
Here's the finished product. Looks much, much better than the cars I used to brush paint as a 12-year old.
