I ordered a pizza last night and I realized something.
Has anyone noticed that the size of the pizza has gotten smaller? The family size pizza from my favorite local pizza place used to be this huge monster that you were guaranteed to have leftovers for the next day and now it seems like we're able polish it off. A friend and I had discussed it a while ago and it seems like the new family size is the old large. This isn't the only place that I've noticed has done this.
Has anyone noticed this as well?

It's been happening all around the food industry. Cereal boxes might be the same size as a few years ago, but there is less cereal in them. Same for many products. It's a great way to try to fool us into thinking that there is not a problem with inflation.
I think we, as a people, are just getting larger.
Perspective, that's all! ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)

I've worked at about 7 different pizzerias in the last 14 years, and a large is still the same as it's ever been, in my experience.

There's been no difference in the size of the pizzas from my favorite local shop.

Funny thing.....the same thing happened to all of my shirts and pants!
no matter what the size.. I still can't finish a whole pie on my own
at my favorite pizza place the pies are sold by inch measured size... i.e. the large is 16" and has always been so.... hard to shrink the sizes if they have to measure a certain dia.........
and yeah I have trouble finishing a large in one sitting.....![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)
tombstone $3 bux winn dixie / publix use your own jalopenos /ground beef / toppings
Local place is great, hasn't downsized the pie, but his prices have gone up a bit over the past year.
Raising the price is more honest than shrinking the size and staying the same price. One way, you're telling the customer that the price is higher. The other way you're hiding that the price is higher, hoping that no one ever notices.

Well played, sir. Well-played. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)
I have a feeling that its a matter of the size of the pizza has gone down and the price has stayed around the same. In the last 10 years the prices have gone up very little.
And for all those with the fat jokes, I'm the same size I was in high school, but I don't eat as much. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)
If you're talking grocery, then everyone's been downsizing for years now. I had a recipe which called for one 32 ounce can of tomato sauce, then one day to my surprise the stores all started carrying 28 ounce cans for the same price.
Not sure if it happens in the pizza industry, however.
30" pizza from Bacci's beotch!

(not me, btw)
i'm like joey 7 shops in thr last 11 or so years.... all still are the same... some did start to get a lot tighter with cheese after it mor than tripled in price a few yewrs back...
but i do know some indy shops that sized up vs the others (a 16 os xl at most shops but this indy it was th standard lg) so maybe they dropped to every other shops standard?
still sux
Please. Cut it in 6, I don't think I can eat 8. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)
i don't know about restaurant pizza being smaller, but i do know that frozen pizza is getting smaller... Bernatellos Half Pounders are about 1/2" smaller in diameter and they don't even bother to make the cardboard in the package smaller to try to hide it.
also, they have a lot less toppings on them. the "Half Pounder" name used to mean that they had a half a pound of cheese on them plus whatever toppings, now it means that they have a half a pound of toppings and you can actually see the sauce on them now when they are cooked..
the mag consumers reports has had examples of this on their last page for years... usually with the note that calls to the various companies were either unanswered or answered with a load of bull E36 M3 ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)
The opposite is happening with clothing.
I have to order jeans online when I need new ones, because no store has skinny emo kid sizes in the store anymore. If your waist is smaller than 36, forget it.
And no one sells small T-shirts anymore (except for GRM! Wooooooo! I bought one!), it's all medium up to XXXL. Silly.

I hate buying jeans. I have really big thighs with a normal waist. I need about a 34, depending on the brand, but 90% of the brands I can't even pull them on over my thighs unless is a 38.
