For the first time in 10 years Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter will be in alignment. There's a free Ap for your phone called Sky View that's pretty cool.. Point this at a star, planet or the Hubbel Telescope and it identifies it; good tool for school aged children.

Went out this morning to see thick cloud cover. Kids were disappointed. We'll try it again tomorrow.

This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius!
Oddly enough a small celestial clock just started ticking in a secret compartment under the stairs.
Yeah, but what about the moon? Is it in the seventh house?

Tunakids #1 and #2 saw Jupiter and Venus with me this morning. We only tried for Saturn in addition, but couldn't find it quickly enough before the sun and work had to happen.
Jupiter is awesome! We were able to see four moons too.

Agreed!
What telescope was that? I am having trouble figuring out how to get mine that magnified, but we saw the same moons I believe. The kids were thrilled to see the moons. The focus knob seems to be not working, making me move it up and down by hand. Mine is a 8".

Brag much?
Oh man, I got so focused on astronomy that I forgot about anatomy.
I was trying to find Uranus with the telescope too, but your head was in the way.

I have no idea! Just grabbed the image off the 'net. I've seen Jupiter and the large moons through my little refractor, but it's not suited to photography. I'd like to get an 8" (or larger) reflector.

Oh - I was thinking you created that picture.
Mine still looked pretty good, but not that zoomed.

Fun Fact: The four largest moons of Jupiter are collectively referred to as the Galilean Moons because that’s how many of them he could see with the first telescope.
