Two latch handles/ flanges on a truck crossover tool box, one side the cad plating is intact, other side has rusted. Rather than the scuff, prime n paint routine would brush or spray on Plast-Dip be easier? What kinda prep is necessary?

Semi related thread hijack:

Can you use Plasti-Dip over a chrome bumper?

Yes, My friends have PlastiDipped plenty of chrome. (EDIT and look at that, my 1001rst post. I'm a real Dork now.)

I would think you would want to remove any rust first. Most other prep is probably not necessary since it has a textured finish to hide other flaws.

I've slowly been covering all the chrome on my e46 with plastidip since I bought it. Holding up well.
